General Ed classes applied elsewhere?

I am a little confused on how that works. If some general Ed classes could apply towards my lower-division requirements can they be applied to that? Kinda like killing 2 birds with one stone?

Or do I have to pick other classes from the list of options? Thanks guys!

Yeah, I think so  Like if you’re a math major and taking a lot of math classes that will fill up your math category quickly.

Yes, that’s correct. For instance, science majors usually get category 3 done automatically. So just worry about the ones that are not major requirements.

Something to note, one class cannot fulfill two GE requirements in categories 1-4, or something like that. You may kill one or more stones with classes that fulfill GE from categories 1-4 + 5-9

I learned this in my undeclared advisory session. I may be wrong on which exact categories, but there is something like that.

Does anyone know which specific one it uses? It’s Physics for Scientists and Engineers by Serway, but is it the most recent one that we use? On Amazon, there’s something like “Chapters 35-49”, “1-36”, etc.

re: what junshik said

an example of this is a class like linguistics, which can be applied towards category 3 or 5, but not both.

Oops, I accidentally posted in a thread instead of making one, sorry about that. :X

or how about this?

I’m actually a PHS major…and I can use the Psych 11A-B-C series as my lower division requirements, and the series can also be used to fulfill my GE III category. Could I do that? Take those 3 classes only to fulfull both things, or do I have to pick 3 different ones for my lower-division requirement for my major?

Thanks for all the help everyone!

it should automatically count towards both your GEs and major requirements unless something specifies that you’re not allowed to apply them to both
