General ed requirements?

Sorry if this posted somewhere else, I could not find any info. At most American colleges, you have to complete certain general classes no matter what your getting your degree in (ie. a math, a science, etc.). At McGill, do you still have these generals??

Thanks!!

There is no university wide Core Curriculum. Each faculty has its own distribution requirements, mostly taken during freshman year. Here is an example for Desautels:

They are called Complimentary Courses, other universities may call them a distribution requirement:
➪ U0 Complementary Courses (9 credits)
9 credits in total will be chosen from the following three categories, but no more than 6 credits may be taken in one category (click on the links below to view the list of courses in each category):

C1 - Society, Culture & Language

C2 - Critical Thinking & Analysis

C3 - Global Perspective & Environment

Thanks! That link was what I was looking for. No offense, but the McGill website is definitely not the easiest to navigate.

I am planning on going into linguistics, which is under the “Arts” section in the link you provided. Just looking for confirmation, but according to “option 1” I can essentially choose what ever classes I want (with some restrictions), correct? So, for example, I wouldn’t have to take Chemistry or some Math…

Thanks again! That link is exactly what I needed!

Never mind, I found out what I needed. Thanks again!

LOL! If you can figure out the website and learn how to search and drill down for answers, you will have no trouble succeeding at McGill.
