General Education Requirements... and testing out of them!

So from my understanding, these are the general education requirements:

[quote]
Literature and Writing: two one-semester courses

History: two one-semester courses

Philosophy: one course in general philosophy (PHIL 001-049 & 150-199) and one in ethics (PHIL 050-149)

Theology: Problem of God (THEO-001) and one intermediate level theology elective fulfill the theology requirement. Introduction to Biblical Literature (THEO-011) may be substituted for Problem of God or may be used as an intermediate level elective.

Math/Science: may be completed by any of the major two semester sequences in math (035-036), computer science (071-072), biology (103-104), chemistry (001-002, 009-010) or physics (041-042 or 105-108). One course semester must be math and the other science for c/o 2006 and above.

Social Science: two courses in one of the following fields: Anthropology, Government, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, or designated courses in Linguistics. Those majoring in a science such as biology or physics are exempt.

Language: All students in the College must achieve proficiency in a language (ancient or modern) through the intermediate level.

I was just wondering what I could test out of with these scores:

-800 on French SAT II
-760 on Writing
-700 on Math IC
-score of 5 on AP French lang.
-score of 4 on AP English lit.

Thanks! :D

You can test out one English, part of your language req, and 1 math, I think, don't take my word for it. The math/science req is a two part one, so you'll have to take calc II or somethin similar. Don't take my word for it, when you officially enroll, you will be able to consult this with your advisor.

You can't technically test out of anything except the language. You can use AP credits to get you out of courses (I used my 5's on two English exams to get credit for one semester of English here). You can also use courses at other universities to count for elective credits.

I was unaware that it was possible to test out of gened requirements with SATII scores. Can someone please elaborate on this.

You can test out of intro to a language if you have a good test score, you will probably still have to take some language credits, UNLESS you test out using the Gtown placement test. That's all SAT II will give you. AP credits will get you more though, out of intro english or straight into calc II.

Will I definitely have to take calc even if my major is not math related at all? Is there any way to get out of taking calculus?

If you are in the College you ahve to take a Math/Science req.

ha, thank god for SFS. i'm "Safe From Science," as they say.

Req. is one math/comp sci, and one bio/chem/phys. Get a 4 on math, then you just have to pick one of three sciences.
