I know students in Georgetown College have certain general education requirements. But do students in the business school, who also have a business core, have to complete those same general education requirements?

I don’t know if they are identical, but students in the business school have to do a number of liberal arts requirements like science, 2 ethics/philosophy, 2 theology, econ, math, writing – I’m sure there are others that I can’t think of. AP credits count for some, although often go towards liberal arts electives.

yeah these are the requirements for the college:

Two humanities and writing courses
Two history courses
Two math/science courses
Two social science courses (except B.S. majors)
Foreign language through the intermediate level
Two theology courses
Two philosophy courses

so it seems like the business school students have to complete those and the business core

Here are the business school liberal arts requirements. There are some slight differences when compared to the college. I don’t see the language or science requirement, and there specifically are two econ courses as well as calculus required.

THE CORE REQUIREMENTS

The Liberal Arts Core and the McDonough School of Business Core requirements are as follows:

Liberal Arts Core (18 courses):

Economics
2 semesters

Humanities and Writing
2 semesters

Mathematics (Calculus)
1 semester

Philosophy/Ethics
2 semesters

Theology
2 semesters

History/Government/Classics
2 semesters

Liberal Arts Electives
7 semesters

Thank you, this is really helpful.
