<p>Your EFC will stay the same whatever school you attend. Does not mean that is all you will pay though. The EFC is just a # used to calculate eligibility for federal aid and sometimes institutional aid (if a school has any institutional aid). Most federal aid will be the same whether you attend a school that costs $13,000 or a school that costs $35,000. For instance the maximum Pell for a student with a 0 EFC is $5350 at the $13,000 school and also $5350 at the $35k school. The maximum 3rd year Stafford loan is $7500 whether your school costs $12k or costs $35k. </p>
<p>Most State schools cannot meet full need for OOS students with low EFCs. They generally can’t even meet full need for Instate students with low EFCs.</p>
