Ive filled out 9 different applications to various schools across the us (3 hard, 3 medium, 3 backup) and wanted to know someones take on the various majors.

Ive applied to finance on most and am enrolled in classes now to focus on the business aspect of things, however would putting something like econ or physics be a safer route to make sure I'm in the university 1st before switching majors?

ex. A&M denied my finance major so they said I could easily wait 1 semester (with econ as backup) and flip into engi program after that time, which sounds nice. ideas if this is better option esp with schools that don't offer a 2nd major as a backup like Penn state.
