Thank you all for a great, informative thread, which we will use as we prepare for the transition.

ElanorRigby, yes Tulane does offer study abroad. Go to the main website page and type in study abroad. You'll get websites for the various departments and their study abroad opportunities as well as the Center for International Studies and the Latin American Studies Program.

You're welcome! Hope you have a good transition.

Along - Kudos to your son for his restraint in spending! My son always spent every penny he made and is more akin to Rico, whose honesty is appreciated. It is easy to spend money in NO and our son does owe us a lot of money. Now, my other son never spends a nickle beyond what he needs.

BTW, S just returned home this week and told us how much he loves Tulane and the great city of New Orleans. Last year he liked it, but this year he loves it now that he has fully adjusted. He even plans to return to visit the GCs at his high school and plug the college to them.

Blizzard, glad to hear the second year was better than the first for your son. My son heads back for year two, and I'm hoping he loves it even more like your son did. That freshman year, no matter how great is still an adjustment, and it sounds like your son has done a good job.

My D will be the one to break the bank and has a tendency to worry about things later rather than sooner. Could be why we call her "Scarlet O'Hara"!

Does anyone know if there are atm's on campus that are owned by Hibernia or Bank One so we don't have to pay a fee to get cash?

I noted the following atm's on campus: Hibernia, Bank One, Whitney (the last has a branch, I believe, on campus).

Thanks opened a bank one account yesterday
