Hi.

1) The text boxes in the online version of the common app let me enter information. but often in the print preview the whole text doesn't appear and is cut off. what do you recommend? should i leave it as it is or make sure it appears properly on the printed version?

2) if one of your parents has two bachelors degrees then is there any way to enter this information?

3) i'm an a levels student. so any idea how to fill out the current courses section?

4) my siblings are very young and only go to primary school. should their degree expected be none? :

5) should i enter my religious preference and ethnicity or is it better to to leave those fields blank?

1) Try making whatever it is that you want to put down shorter (and what exactly was the information that was cut off?)

2) There isn’t anywhere on the Common App saying that you have to list ALL of your parents degrees. Maybe you should just list one (maybe the one that sounds better)

3) Not sure

4) Of course they wouldn’t have a degree. Colleges would understand this.

5) It’s up to you. Maybe this article would help you choose: [More Asian-Americans NOT ticking ‘Asian’ on college applications in bid for easier admission rate | Mail Online](<a href=“More Asian-Americans NOT ticking 'Asian' on college applications in bid for easier admission rate | Daily Mail Online”>More Asian-Americans NOT ticking 'Asian' on college applications in bid for easier admission rate | Daily Mail Online)

On item 2, part of the reason colleges ask that is to understand what you were exposed to growing up. If neither parent went to college, you would be a first generation college student in your family. If your parents both have PhD’s, they would know that you are pretty serious when you imply you also want to get your PhD eventually. On the flip side, if your parents both went to college, the implication is that you should have been exposed to more, likely have a higher income, and they’ll want to see how you took advantage of that opportunity.
