Just a general question about gpa's.

Right now, I'm thinking about applying to a few BS/MS as a transfer student, and I've emailed admission counselors but no response so far. At my current university my gpa from my previous gpa is not taken into account for anything. The only program which I know of that will is the the OT program. When I inquired about it she told me I needed to have a 3.5 gpa, and a few courses completed. I honestly didn't think I would get in because her specific words were if you don't pass Anatomy & Physiology with an A don't apply because you would need to retake it. I passed with a B because I bombed my 2nd exam. Took it two days after a car accident. For being a tough course during a normal 18 wk session I think I did pretty good in a 8 wk session.

So I didn't waste my time taking the recommended courses because I figured I would apply for a MS degree program, and finish out at current university with a major in Kinesiology.

After that back story my question is do most university take into account both gpa's combined, or separately? Does it work similar to Grad programs? (taking both into account)
