General question regarding grad school

Hello all,

I recently got accepted as a transfer student from UAlbany to Geneseo. I'm most likely going to transfer for personal reasons (Geneseo is much closer to home and my best friend from high school is attending, and I am socially isolated and depressed here in Albany), but I had a question regarding what Grad schools will see when that time comes. I've already verified with the Geneseo Office of Admissions that my GPA will be wiped clean, which is quite the disappointment since my GPA here at UAlbany will be in the mid-3.9s after this semester. My question is, then, when I am applying to a Grad school, will they be able to see my UAlbany GPA as well and subsequently take it into consideration, or will it get completely erased and/or not be taken into consideration?

Thanks,
Josh

of course, they will look at your UAlbany GPA! Nothing will get erased from you records.

When you apply for graduate admission, you will be asked to provide official copies of all your post-HS transcripts. This means that they will indeed see your UAlbany records.

I am a transfer student myself and I was recently accepted at one of my top choices for grad school. They will indeed see your grades, but more importantly, you may want to take a paragraph in your personal statement to explain your decision in a professional manner. Grad schools want to know you won’t flake on them, but so long as you can explain why one school met your professional interests better than the other, you’ll be fine.
