It is plausible to work a job (30+ hours/week) if I attend ACC without a car?
My parents say that it is not possible to live and work in Austin without a car even though many students say they make the public transport work for them…
How hard is it to transfer to UT as an Radio-Television-Film major? (or almost any other Communications major) I know RTF is highly competitive, but does UT have a preference for ACC students? Will I have any resources to my advantage as an ACC student?
Does FAFSA give me reduced grants if I attend a community college? I am looking to be almost self-supportive financially and make this work. My dad said he will not give me any financial help if I attend ACC which is okay with me, but my mother may be able to chip in a couple hundred bucks a month. If I get a cheap apartment ($500-650 + $100-200 for utilities) will I be okay?
Or is anyone willing to convince me to attend UTD or UTA instead? I just hate the fact that I would be attending a university not in the name of University of Texas at Austin… I absolutely detest these schools but these are my only options. I sometimes get suicidal tendencies just at the fact that I am not able to attend my dream school whereas kids that have worse grades and test scores get to attend their dreams schools… I am so sick and tired of hearing kids saying that they are attending UNT, Texas State, Texas Tech, or whatever school they’re going to and I’m here stuck with attending UTD or UTA. I would be so happy to attend ACC, but I just don’t have my dad’s support. He thinks community college is not safe and he judges kids who attend CC to be stupid, druggies, etc… He also thinks the sub-par education will somehow fuck up my future or something.
