Colleges ask for prospective/current students to send in 2010 signed tax returns, schedules, and W-2s.

What exactly does "signed tax return" mean? Do I make a copy and then ask my parents to sign it again or should the signature already be on there?

What are schedules?

My parents don't speak a word of English, and I have no idea how to translate this to them.

There is a place at the bottom of one of the pages of your tax returns for a signature and date. If you did a paper filing, your parents have already signed, and you can simply copy it. If you filed electronically, you will need to have them sign in that spot and date it using the date they FILED their income tax return.

Schedules are added forms to the tax returns that have additional financial information on them. There are schedules for itemized deductions, and other things. These would be part of your parents’ tax returns if they used them. Not everyone has schedules to attach.

Thank you so much! You really helped clarify everything.
