General Questions, chance for 2014

I'm a junior now and wondering what my chances are at Cornell CALS. Also, can you apply to more then one school at Cornell? Also interested in engineering maybe. Here are my stats:

-Interested in Biology and mathematics: Biomedical Engineering

GPA: 3.96 UW/ 4.86 W

Rank: 4 of 230
-Again, should be higher by the end of this year

ACT:
Math: 36
English: 31
Science: 30
Reading: 26
Composite: 31

-Got a 31 on a separate ACT test, my superscore is as follows
Math: 36
English: 34
Science: 30
Reading: 29
Superscore Composite: 32

EC's
-Student Government - President of the class for 3 (hopefully 4) years
Student Council - all 4 years
Spanish Club - 3 years
Ping Pong Club - 2 years
Band - have played the trumpet since 5th grade
******* - Marching Band - 4 years
******* - Pit Band - 4 years
******* - Concert Band - 4 years (section leader, first chair trumpet)
******* - Jazz Band - 4 years
As Schools Match Wits - Local highschool game show competition
Council of Peer Educators - 3 years
National Honor Society
Key Club
Baseball - Varsity
Indoor track - Varsity

-Have voluntered at local hospital setting up fundraisers for cancer patients.
-Have voluntered over 30 hours for baseball clinics and camps
-Have over 20 hours of other hours at various events
-Plan to work at Umass laboratory this summer researching epigenetic reprogramming. Possible summer job along with this

I have taken very rigorous courseload (as seen by weighted GPA).
Plan to take 3 AP's next year (Calc, Bio, Psych) but I have not taken any yet.
Our school requires many prerequisites for the AP's you can take.
Our highschool is in the top 10% for MCAS scores as well.
Our highschool sends about 4 or 5 kids to top universities every year.

SAT II scores come in Tuesday

-I will most likely apply ED to Cornell, if not Cornell then Georgetown ED (also legacy at Gtown)

-if you need any other information, please post
-if you think of any "matches", please post

Cornell, and CALS especially, looks for fit, and other than the job at UMass this summer, I see nothing that shows your interest in the major. Even with a 2400 SAT and 4.0 GPA, Cornell (and CALS) is a reach with no fit in the major you’re applying for.

i’m guessing you’re asian?

if so, no offense, but you really don’t stand out from the hordes of other highly achieving asians applying. seconding what dtop said

and i’m asian too, so no one call me a racist

I thought Georgetown only had Early Action?? Hmmmm…

P.s. I have a 31 on the ACT, but I am caucasian. Let’s hope we still get what we want!! haha

i’m Caucasian actually

haha ok

just seemed like the stereotypical asian profile. i’d still say follow dtop’s advice though, asians and whites have it hard in the college game

Your best strategy then is probably EA Georgetown and ED Cornell. That way if you get accepted into Cornell, you commit here, and if not, just go to Georgetown (seems like admission there is probable for you). Be sure to write a good essay, emphasizing what sets you apart from the other applicants.
