S oos received a $4,000 per yr. cooper scholarship today which comes with in state tuition. Pretty nice perk!

Congratulations!!

laxdad
congrats to S! Hope he's keeping USC on his list.
be on the lookout now for departmental scholarship offerings. You can peruse the offerings somewhere on the admissions or department websites.Past history with posters here was that letters about the offerings by depts followed enrollment deposits. You can combine more than one scholarship.

I just got the 4,000.00 scholarship as well :) I had to climb through a lot of snow to get to my mailbox but I suppose it was worth it lol.

I'm an in state student and I got the $3,000 Dean's Scholarship today. Cathymee is right about the departmental scholarship offers, I was encouraged to apply for the Rothberg scholarship for chemical engineers a couple months ago. Congrats to everybody who recieved a scholarship!

congrats to THEA and SSB hope you will all be Gamecocks in the Fall!!

Congrats to all... It is good to be able to add to this post. My D just received $2,000/yr University Scholars Award. This, in addition to a $500/yr legacy scholarship (her mom is a USC alumni) and the $5,000 LIFE scholarship puts USC on top in the financial category. Isn't the waiting game fun... ;)

expat
Happy Dance for your D. A number of S's instate friends have that combo of Life + another scholarship.

Today I got the $500 Woodrow scholarship today. It was a nice way to come home on a Monday.

Congrats Woody !!!

I'm instate and I got the 3,000 Dean's scholarship.

My son got a scholarship called McKissick Scholars award which is $2000 off each year, but it also offers him in state tuition. That is worth about $60 k to us according to the letter. Boy, we have to take a second look at this school!

Thank you PMazOD. The Money put USC into contention for what school I may choose.

kevinsmom! Congratulations to Kevin! This is a great scholarship and USC has an NROTC unit as well. You should definitely visit!

Letter came today for D. McKissick Scholarship awarded. Last week she received the Legacy Scholarship. These two awards can be combined, so the package is $2,500. Looking forward to becoming an alumni dad !

Just a mom... we visited last summer and I wrote up a visit report. He loved this school especially because of the NROTC department, although the leader we spoke to will be gone in the fall of 2008. Kevin is stung not to have received the NROTC scholarship he applied for, and is now questioning where he really wants to go. But what a morale boost to get this wonderful invitation to South Carolina!

kevinsmom
are you sure he won't receive that scholarship as well? Don't forget USC allows "stacking" of awards..just b/c he received one doesn't mean he won't receive another. The campus is on break this week, but you might want to check next week with the NROTC officials to see if their scholarship award letters have gone out yet.

kevinsmom - I forgot you guys visited -

He should definitely visit and talk to the NROTC folks. I think you can get NROTC scholarships while in college - 3 or 2 year ones...

Now I am wondering when he applied - if he didn't put USC as first choice then if he can change it now would it make a difference?

If he is seriously thinking USC - I would have him call - at least - NROTC down there and tell them his situation. They may be able to help him out.
Good Luck!

Does anybody know the particulars of the Woodrow Scholarship? The letter reads that one receives 10K and a discount, plus $500. Or is the 10K discount from OOS tution the whole scholarship? Anyone?

The way I understood it the actually scholarships is $500. the 10k is after the instate tuition. The letter was a bit confusing. Congrats too.
