The title says it all.

Who doesn't like the look of fresh, crisp paper in a brand new notebook, or pencils with sharp tips, or a never-been-used eraser? (Okay, don't judge me and assume that I'm female. I am, but just don't.)

There are so many random school supply threads out there based solely on one item - binders, notebooks, etc. - I thought I would combine them into one to make it easier to both track and reply to. Maybe this is a little early considering my summer just started two weeks ago, but hey, this is CC, and we're all obsessed with school (or, at least, school supplies)!

So to kick start this thread, what brand of notebooks and folders do you all use?

I always use 5 subject Five Star notebook. I use the cheapest folders cause they never last. And I use Staples Brand Pens

I am totally the same…I love getting new stationery each school year (much to the annoyance of my parents). Lol!! :)

I am not sure if you have them in the US, but I love Pukka project books in pink. I’m sure you have similar products, but I particularly like the design of these.

Keep me posted on your purchases.

One subject Five Star notebooks are my favorite, but my mom usually makes me settle for the paper-cover ones because they’re only like 20 cents at Walmart, haha. I like to use plastic folders because they’re a bit more durable and I hate when the paper ones somehow fall to the bottom of my backpack and bend.

Ugh, writing this makes me want to start supply shopping, like, now! Too bad my mother doesn’t relate to my enthusiasm…:P

I only get new stuff if I truly need it.
This year I probably don’t need anything. I already have 1 notebook, 1 folder, and a planner. I just need a new glasses case to use as a pencil case (it’s a very good disguise, I’ve learned).

For notebooks, I usually use generic brands, because it’s the cheapest. However, I got a bunch of Mead Composition Notebooks, so I’ll use one this year. I used to use a spiral loose-leaf notebook from Japan, but I lost it. I also like moleskines, but they’re expensive.

For folders, I don’t even know the brand. I just get plastic ones.

What backpacks do you use or recommend? (preferably possible to buy online)

Also, should I buy binders/notebooks for online classes and clubs?

L.L Bean has the BEST backpacks. I always get them there.

make sure you bring yourself to class.

No, make sure you buy a new self for school. Obviously, that’s the most important new school supply you need.

I used to be quite fond of messenger bags, and I still love mine, but when you have multiple AP Textbooks to take home, they can get full quickly. So this around the middle of this year, I got a new knapsack from JackThreads made by the British Belt Company. It was a special sale, so I doubt they still have it, but I really like it.

I also have a Moleskine binder that I use for homework, and will probably get some Moleskine notebooks, but I’m not sure.

I discovered a new mechanical pencil this year too: It rotates the lead pieces as you write to avoid flat spots on the lead. It’s fantastic.
Haha I got that pencil from Japan for under $1.

that pencil…“diamond infused lead” wut.
But I love school supplies and I always buy stuff I don’t need in August because…because school supplies. Mostly pencils/pens since I lose them so fast, I don’t use notebooks much just a binder.
@tomatox you’ll probably want at least a separate notebook for an online class, but not so much for a club unless it’s note-intensive like model un.

@moretea - The lead rotates to avoid those flat areas? Mind = blown.

I actually write neater with cheap hotel pens. Not much of a pencil person.

To anyone who has an L.L. Bean backpack, how much did you buy yours for? I’ve seen some online for $60 - 70, but I’m not willing to pay that much…

This thread makes me so sad. :’( Our school is switching over to iPads this year… Don’t know how I’m gonna deal with not having to buy notebooks and binders and pencils and the like. It’s gonna be a rough high school experience.

I dunno. Whatever they’re selling. I like plastic folders, though.
I like to take notes with Sharpie pens, even though they bleed through the paper.

For notebooks, I use norcom 70 sheets because they are cheap. I use a jansport backpack. I use mead college ruled filler paper and xerox multipurpose paper. For pens, I use bic cristal. I use one inch and two inch binders along with flashcards from target. I also use bic mechanical pencils with 0.7 lead. Sharpies, sharpie accent highlighter, wexford white-out and hi-polymer eraser are also essential for me. Can’t forget my staples stapler and staple remove along with my trust ti-83+ calculator!

I’m just going to use my supplies that I bought last year as I have more than enough.

Sort of lame, but I really liked the Trapper Keepers I used last year. I’m obsessed with Pilot’s Easy Touch Medium Point (don’t use any other pen!). I also enjoy getting new BIC mechanical pencils in those bright green, orange, pink, and blue hues.

I think I’ll only end up getting whatever I REALLY need. For example, I can manage with my backpack and binders for another school year. I’ll probably just get two binders just in case though.

But wow, This is my first time seeing people so in detail about school supplies. Lol, I could understand why I guess. I really want to improve my work ethic, organization and time management this year. Maybe some good supplies can help with that…

I usually buy some kind of a plastic portfolio or folder to keep all my homework separate for all the subjects. My mom always buys more school supplies than I need, so I just use the extras the next year.I have a few new binders lying around in my house which I’ll definitely be using next year. My teachers usually post the general school supply list when we get our schedules, and then I’ll immediately go home and search for all the supplies.

We don’t get lists anymore. It would be a lot more convenient if we either got our lists before school started or the teachers weren’t so anal about the supplies we used in their class.
