General Studies?

If I was applying as a transfer, would I have a better shot getting into General Studies than Arts and Sciences? Or are they equal?

do you mean for grad school? because the undergrad school for arts and sciences here is called columbia college.. i would think that yes, you would have a better chance of getting into general studies, but i thought that only a specific non-traditional type of person was sought for that school, so people interested in arts&sciences wouldnt also be interested in GS. - i could be wrong.

No, you're are probably right. I was pretty confused on what it was as well, but that makes sense. Could you see my stats on the transfer board..."Help!... Kinda long (but thorough).. where should I go" or something along those lines. Would I even have a shot transferring into Columbia College if I tried?

im not sure about exact or recent stats, but i believe the transfer acceptance rate into columbia college is about 2%. basically it's a crapshoot, might as well give it a try.

My god, is that the hardest division undergrad? Do you think I could have a chance at any other ivy?

i dont think princeton even accepts transfers, and the other ivy transfer rates are probably just as low as columbia's. i heard cornell's was like 30% but that number was completely accurate, but i dont remember the reason. columbia college is the most selective school at columbia - barnard is pretty open toward transfer but their acceptance rate is pretty low too (like 25%?) and i dont know about seas or gs.

Ok great, thank you so much for your help. I'm going to try Dartmouth, Brown, Columbia, UPenn and Cornell. Hopefully, I get lucky and they take a chance on me.

Actually I believe Columbia College's acceptance rate was about 10% last year. Of the Ivies, Brown and Cornell are the easiest with rates between 20-30%. Dartmouth is usually between 10-15% and Penn is about 15-20%. It all changes year over year but lately Brown has been the one to give a shot. Yale is the hardest Ivy, harvard is a little easier.
