Ok, I'm going to be a freshman at U of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign this fall. I have a few questions about transfering out to somewhere like U of Chicago or Vanderbilt:

How hard is it to transfer?

What are the major differences between transfering and applying during HS?

Do I need to retake my SATs? Should I take the SAT IIs?

What about extracurricular activites? What can I do to make my application look good?

What are good schools in biochemistry and of these which are the easiest easier to transfer into?

Thanks.

About the SAT's, I don't need to retake if they were good, do I? I hear SAT's aren't as important as they were for freshman applicants. Too bad if thats the case.

i will be a freshman at another school and will probably transfer, but i hear transfering is so hard some schools(dartmouth) encourage you to apply as a freshman -_-, so... i think for ppl like me, who didn't even get in in freshman apps. i probably won't get in in transfer apps :(

Here's a good question: How important is a prestigious undergrad school when applying to grad school? I think I might just stay at U of I since it would be difficult to pay for school without in-state tuition.
