Generally how much are debate scholarships?

At reasonably good private college (ex- BC, GWU, NYU, etc) how much can I expect from a debate scholarship?
I am a fairly good debator, but I am not one of the top in the country.
thanks

Yeah, I had the same question a little while back. From my understanding, it ranges pretty well. Some schools will not give any scholarship money, but support the travel of the program. Others may give 10k for good debaters, or even more, but those are rare. The big "debate scholarships" are at schools like USC (SoCal), Emory, and Wake.

Good luck,

In the midst of my college search, as well, and I've noticed that some small privates outside of the East Coast offer college debate scholarships. (I live in the Midwest and am looking to stay in the Midwest, preferring to stay within 500 miles of home.)

I stumbled across Carthage College and they seem to be offering some big money for debate scholarships. Up to $10,000 a year, and the kicker is that you can pile on merit scholarships on top of that.

That was enough to get my attention to get them on my college search list, anyhow. That, and they have my major. Hard to gloss over that detail, no matter what debate scholarships are offered. I still need to visit, though. Anyone been there?

I've run across other small private colleges offering debate scholarships, too, but none as large as that.
