there are lofted beds in donner..i stayed in a room with one when i was a bagger

weird, the "virtual tours" seem to think otherwise. :-/

The virtual tours show random sample rooms. Just because it shows a room in a particular configuration doesn't mean all the rooms of the same type look like that. This is especially true in buildings where the rooms are funky-shaped, e.g. Morewood A-D.

Lol I havent got a room yet and it does not seem like I will be getting one soon.

Donner does have lofted beds. Last year they came standard as one lofted, one unlofted. My roommate & I both decided we wanted a bed that wasn't lofted, so we just took down the lofted bed - easy enough to do (unless the pieces get stuck). You just leave the pieces behind other things in your room or you can trade with someone in another room who wants both beds lofted. Everyone moves their room around differently, remember that you don't have to stick with the standard room design if you don't want. If you do things differently, you can have a lot more room (at least in donner & morewood e).

A lot of the virtual tours are outdated, as the furniture gets replaced fairly frequently. I know morewoodE and Donner have been replaced in the past few years.

I don't know if I missed this somewhere in the post but... can we have two lofted beds without trading. Like can we just ask housing to loft the unlofted one. Because I know I'm gonna want a lofted one for sure.

SISIS: No, lofted beds are popular so Housing doesn't have any spares hanging around. They'll let you build your own but you have to register it with them and you have to decide if it's worth the trouble and expense.

Trading usually works, though. Just ask around on your floor when you get here.

once you find someone who's willing to trade, what do you do? attempt to get the bed through the door sideways? :)

do we have to call maintenance or something?

You're supposed to call maintenance, but I think mostly dads that are floating around during move-in move them for people...

The loft units come apart into easily transportable pieces; I think the only tool you need is a screwdriver. On my floor, the trading was done by the people trading beds. Technically you're supposed to put in a maintenance request, but it's probably more convenient and quicker (and more likely to get done) if you just do it yourself.

for the unlofted bedds, those are adjustable to a few feet high right? like 4 feet or so? i want to use the bottom for storage

My daughter's was at the top height when she moved in and she left it like that. Those plastic storage drawers fit perfectly underneath (as well as her suitcase and lots of other stuff) We brought one and actually went out to Target to get two more once we got there.

Yes, the heights of both lofted and unlofted beds are adjustable (though it's kind of a pain to adjust them). Having your unlofted bed too high makes it a little annoying to get in and out of, but whatever floats your boat.

wow... I'm an idiot. I didn't even think of that LOL.

I was planning on putting my bed all the way to the top but not now. Guess sometimes you just don't think about those things.

i need to put my guitar amp and equip under there, as well as storage. so i will be putting it up decently high
