Someone pls tell me something 'bout the Williams ED fin aid for international :(

Smartmind, I am not trying to convince anyone to apply to LACs - you know best your circumstances and the decision is definitely yours. What I was trying was preventing you guys from writing off such institutions from the begining, a thing you may come to regret later on.

Dooit, the thing about Amherst is that it really does not have a specific character. It's whatever you want it to be - there are enough party-people as there are nerds or quirky people - but this distinctions are oftentimes artificial as most people defy classification. Go to the Amherst board - there was a thread about Amherst's character.

As about FinAid for internationals at Williams - Williams claims to be need-blind even in regard to internationals, although I am skeptical of how much this really matters. They are quite generous, nevertheless, but the competition is as intense as for an ivy - it's worth a try, though!

I don't recommend ED to Williams.
Every year, Williams will only take 4-5 students in the ED round, and those usually include 1 from China, 1 from Canada, 1 from Korea. So your chance of being admitted under ED is quite slim.

where would you place middlebury ...after williams amherst swathmore?

Yay Google! :)

Financial Aid Information from the CIS 2005/2006 Higher Education Directory

I was under the impression that Williams is need-blind for internationals. Has the policy been changed? Anyway ED to Williams if you are sure it's your favourite. If it's tough getting in ED, it shouldn't be any easier to get in via regular.

Since none of the schools suggested later on like Bates, Colby, etc are of the same "calibre" as HYP, you may want to take a look at schools that are very generous with international students: Macalester, Ohio Wesleyan, Mt Holyoke, Vassar.

wut about Washington and Lee ???

Mt. Holyoke is a women's college, just in case ppl don't know. :D

Wash & Lee, no idea if it's generous to intels.

And yes, Williams is need-blind for intel applicants.
