DOEs anyone have kids who are going to Geneseo or Binghamton? How do they compare? WOndering expecially how they compare in the sciences- biology, biophysics, biochemistry. Also what is student life like? Non- partying activities for students? ANy other observations/ comparisons would be appreciated.

You really should visit both schools. They’re very different.

We visited Geneseo. After the visit, it was erased from our son’s top 3 list.
In his opinion, the cons were:
- Very out of the way location. Long drive to get there.
- To him, it felt more like a high school campus
- While it’s situation right in the middle of the main street, the street appeared to be very boring. We were there on a Sunday and almost everything was closed.
- He honestly felt like he would be bored to death living there–especially during the long winter months. He’s grown up in a small town and for him, Geneseo would have been more of the same.

Many people love Geneseo. You really need to visit before you start putting it at the top of your list. Plan to visit the college AND spend a night/day in the area. If you do this, you’ll know right away if Geneseo and the surrounding area is what you’re looking for in a college.

Geneseo is a terrific school, but it is important to visit and see it for yourself before making any decisions.

^typo: situation —>should be “situated” :)

I have a nephew at Geneseo now, and he is very happy with it. However, he is a transfer from Nazareth College, which he hated. He is a partier. He is not necessarily an academic achiever, although he is very intelligent. Geneseo is his first experience ever of an academic institution where he wants to learn.
