D who is a junior is interested in genetics research. At one time she was interested in pre-optometry. She is taking a rigorous load with Ap Bio and Ap EngIII. She is also taking all other accelerated classed excet for band. She is an alto sax and plays in symphonic band, marching band and the show choir combo. She is also a thespian and attends the state conference. She is in the top 25 of her class with an uw 3.66 and a wt GPA of 3.86. Her senior yr, she is looking at AP IV, AP Euro and all others except band as accelerated classes.

Anyone know of her chances in respect to merit aide. In terms of FA her freshman yr. of college, dad will be a full time student at the community college and sister will be a freshman at a 4 yr. college. tere will be 2 youger sibs at home in middle school and elementary school. Mom is a full time teacher in a public school system.

My D has a nice merit package from OWU ~ 1400 SAT, 33 ACT. Hard to compare GPAs because of different schools/rigor My D took and passed 7 APs before senior year, though. If only income is Mom's public school you may get some need based aid, too. See how she does on her SATs and ACTs. OWU seems good about Merit. Have her apply Early Action if she's interested, we heard about money right away.

I am hoping that yes she will get need based aid. I was wondering though with her GPA and rank whether she may qualify for merit aid. Often need based aid is heavy with loans. She just took SAT and is taking ACT in April. Our district only offers 8 AP's and that is not a given if enrollment in the AP doesn't justify offering the class. Does EA imply that the student will attend if accepted? I am not real sure of the difference between ED and EA? Thanks so much for your insight.
