My D is interested in both Music and Genetics. I thought all of the summer genetics internships were for 16 yrs. and up, but we heard about a 15 yr. old Freshman that has a Bio-med research internship this summer. Does anyone know of a program still taking applicants?

There is the SEAP program, Google SEAP summer program but only a couple of those are 15 years, rest is all 16.

BTW, do you know what is the name of the Bio-med research internship that freshman has taken up ? I am aslo getting to know more for my son who will be in high school only nexy year, so i am thinking for 2014. my email address is ramapriyan@**********

But 95% of the program ask either junior or 16 yo.

thanks

This summer I am doing Neuroscience research, specifically on Huntington’s disease, at my state flagship. I am only 15. However, I am in a research class at my school.

My advice:
- Talk to the head of his school’s science department. They may have contacts at nearby universities.

Start early!

Have a cover letter and resume and just send it out. You will get rejected by many but eventually you will find something.

I originally was doing schizophrenia genetics in my class. Professionals in the field whom I spoke with explained that genetics is not practical for high school. Just consider that.

Of course I didn’t take the program route here. That’s very different.

I wish I knew. We are new in town, don’t know anyone very well, and school is out. If I find out, I will post.

Thank you and congratulations. :)
