Sounds like an interesting class, but is it an easy for lab? Does anyone know what we do in the lab part, and whether the class has much math? :p Thanks!

I assume you’re a humanities major, but geo 2 is a very easy lab and you should definitely take it. You have to do weekly labs but the TAs will walk you through them step by step and it’d be rare if you don’t finish them during section. There’s not much math involved, and if there is, you’ll surely be given the formulas for calculation. Labs like geo 2 are tailored for humanities major who aren’t adept with science, especially the mathematical aspects of it.

I’m interested in this class too, and I’m a liberal arts major with a pretty weak math background (only went up to Honors Algebra II sophomore year and don’t remember a whole lot of it :p). So when you say they give you the formulas, is the math all basically plugging in numbers to formulas? Also, what do we do for the labs most of the time? Thanks! :)

Yea, plug and chug is an apt description along with basic calculations really. Honestly, if you’re a humanities person looking for a science lab, geo 2 is the one for you. During one section for example, our TA took us to the botanical gardens (which I had not known about before and was pretty neat). Our assignment was to identify certain species of plants, give them a good look over, and describe what they look and what some of their special adaptations were (you go there with some ideas already of course). It was fun and easy.

Oh, and if you’re taking it with Zackey, you’ll also have to write a 8 page species paper. Yes, you’ll be writing the college equivalent of a 4th grade animal report. But aside from the paper, geo 2 is mostly busy work.

^Sounds great! Thanks a lot for your information!
