So I hear many people are applying from New York. Does this play a big role in admission since they want to make there class diverse?

How many people do you think are applying from your area?

I am from Texas and I really dont hear many people talking about ivy’s

im from florida

top 10 students of my class are applying for ivy although i'm in a public school, but none applied penn ED. (im no.2 and the only one applying to penn)

They get a decent amount of students from Texas (65).

So no it will not help you. Georgraphy really gives that extra push if everything else lines up.

imagine if you were applying from south dakota or wyoming or something like that.... If you had average stats, you would def. be in.

I'm from New York. bawls
I wanna go to Penn but I don't think my stats'll hold up.

i'm from new jersey... and i know for a fact that there are at least 20 people from my school applying to wharton so i think my chances are pretty slim.

TWENTY PPL?
jesus.
i wish my neighbors knew where pennsylvania was... lol

I'm from NY too :(

New Yorkers unite!

I'm top 3% of my class, 2330 SAT, pretty good ECs (editor, 2 presidents, captain, etc)... Do you think I'd be towards the top of the Long Island applicant pool, Pyar?
=(

BALLIN!

Probably right in the middle.

i'm from new york too. :/ but hopefully not as many people apply from upstate new york..

with my 2070 i'll be part of the.. more wishful thinking type of applicants.

hehe louisiana....

Err, why right in the middle? On a few other threads, the replies leaned towards that I was above the middle of Long Island applicants, and of the LI applicants I've seen just on CC so far, my stats are better than most... My rank is slightly above the average for Penn, and my SAT score is better than about 90% of applicants... I know LI competition is fierce, but I still wouldn't say that I'm "right in the middle."

Well actually, now that I think about it, you (andrw) didn't know that I'm applying ED (at least I don't think you did...), which seems to help a good deal at Penn, as they really like taking lots of kids ED. In the RD pool, I definitely agree that I would be in the middle/below the middle.
Plus I'm applying to the College, which thankfully isn't as uber-hardcore as Wharton. You Wharton applicants are my heroes.

I dunno... I <3 Penn!

And I think my personal essay was really unique... It was about the AMNH and anthropology, and my counselor told me I have a gift for writing.

Blahh. crosses fingers

withonevoice, I think you are near the top end of kids applying from LI. I am at the bottom end (im doing ED to wharton). How many kids do you think are applying from LI?

uve great stats, calm urself. lol andrws just hating =)

hey! i <3 penn too!! woot.

I think four people from the northern part of my state is applying. I go to a pretty good public high located in a upperclass neighborhood. I am on variance, though... Out of the four, only I am doing ED. There are two others from my school and the other is from another city about 30 min away. The other kid applying to Penn is applying to Wharton. Football player who hasn't taken any SATs yet, so I don't know how optimistic it is looking for him.

I'm from Texas too and I agree that it isn't often you hear about lots of ppl going to Ivys. Weird. What city are you from?

I think Penn accepts a lot from Pennsylvania (esp Philly) and California. I found statistics before.. can't find it anymore.. hmm..

Anyway, good luck you guys! How many days left? Thirty?

Thirty Oneeee

ahhhhhhh time is passing by so QUICKLY!!
oh, and random question (sorry for using your thread.. but it's a real quickie):
did any of you email your region admissions officer? and do you think it influenced your chances?
