Geographic area

I was just wondering how much geographic diversity helps. I’m from South Carolina. Do they just look at state or school or county? Does being from SC help me at all?

NO, NO, and NO, and NO (and one last NO just for the hell of it)

there are already topics addressing these issues.
let me introduce you to the search button on your top right corner.
thank you and please enjoy the rest of your stay at CC.

edit: yes i'm harsh. but if you haven't noticed Early Decisions are coming up. so for the time being, learn to be more independent and research this stuff on your own. after Dec. 10 people might actually care about you

booboo...u did that jus cuz his name has the word "bush" in it, didnt ya? niceee

yup. +characters

Bushman, I hope you don't think all PENN people are like booboocat!

I think they do take geographic diversity into account, my guess would be that they foremost look at the state, then county, then school, because when reporting the areas of which the students come from they always say "all 50 states and the District of Columbia are represented, blah blah."

I don't know how much of an advantage applying from South Carolina is, but I know that SC is not one of the over represented states like NJ or Ny, so it should help a bit. But then again I am just a prospective student myself so...

props to you lol

Being from the middle of nowhere defintely helps...

yes the adcom looks for geographic diversity but I doesn't play a huge role. As chocoman said if you're from the middle of nowhere it will help. Lol the one girl in my class from South Dakota is not the sharpest tool in the shed if that's an indicator lol

The best geographic advantage: being from Philadelphia, like me.

They go as low as 1200, sometimes lower...

god so many central high kids. although one of my closest friends went there.

yeah, theres a guy who posts here from Central.

The Philadelphia ED pool is like 40 kids from Central, and 20 from everywhere else...
