Hi, im a senior living in Guam. I was born and raised there. I go to a competitive IB High School and I do pretty well there. I will be applying Early Decision to Carnegie Mellon University. But I've noticed that many of the CC people here have extremely high stats. I've become doubtful, and i'm starting to rethink whether or not i should apply to CMU. How're my chances for getting into CMU through ED? I want to major in either architecture or civil engineering. Which path should I take?

Here are my stats in a nutshell

grades in high school: 88~90% (our school doesn't use the gpa scale.)

Rank: 6/29

SATI: CR: 630 M: 770 W: 710

SATII: MATH 2C: 780, CHEM:670

Languages spoken:
Fluent- English, Korean, Japanese
Still Learning: French, Spanish, Chinese

Notable Accomplishments: Architecture Contest Winner, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Photography Calendar Contest Winner.

EC*: Service Club, Japanese club, Enviromental Club, Hiking Club, Student Council Representative (9th,10th,12th grade), Varsity Soccer, Varsity Volleyball (10th grade), Varsity Paddling (Crew? i think thats what americans call it), School Tutor, Orchestra (guitar and piano)
*Since I go to an IB school, 150 hours are required for diploma candidates and 100 hours are required for the others. So it's required to have EC's lol.

Jobs:
University of Guam Research Assistant (10th grade summer)-Actually, it was just a paperwork job for the science department. The title of position is misleading. In any case, I got payed so I'm happy.
Construction Worker (11th grade summer)- 10 hrs each day, 5 days a week for 2~3 weeks.
Tutor (11th, 12th grade)-General Math tutor at local academy. M/W/F/Sa; 2hr each day.headache job

Instruments: Piano (5 years), Guitar (4 years), Violin (2 years)

Course Load: all IB classes and 2 AP classes (Stats and Physics)

AP/IB Exams: IB Economics- 6; AP Chem- 3(I screwed up big time); AP European History-4( I studied indepently)

I attended the CMU Pre-College for Architecture. Which may not seem like much, but it was really hard for me since it was literally on the other side of the world of Guam.

My stats aren't as high as some of the applicants applying to top schools (such as CMU) in CC.

But do I have an advantage since I live in Guam? I don't think CMU has had that many students from Guam before. I know one who did go to CMU, but other than him I don't think there has been anybody from Guam who went. Since CMU is looking for diversity in its student population, would they consider the lack of students from Guam in their admissions process?

Also, I'm an asian (korean) male. So does that reduce my chances of being accepted? I've heard that it's especially hard for asians to get into college. Is this true?

Also, in the event I am not accepted to CMU, can anyone give me a list of reach/match/safety schools that I should consider?

Thank You,
