Geography a factor?

those nos are for the total no of UG's at MIT from each state.

That's correct.

Wow 7 UGs from Trinidad, there's hope for me!

Yeah. And 2 from Poland... What is the population of Trinidad and Tobago ?

1.3 million, I was wondering whether MIT forgot Poland. ;)

Actually I should be looking at US Citizens with a foreign address. 101 UGs, yay.

How would coming from NC affect me?

go KOREA!
yeah~

5 UGs from Jordan. I didn't think it'd be this high.

How would coming from NC affect me and the fact that I don't think we've had any students from my school to get into MIT? (maybe 1 or 2 many years ago, but who knows)

They seem to get rejected to MIT, but accepted to Stanford.

I can't think of anyone who went to my school who got accepted into the Ivies.

The really special kids from my town go to the state universities. The really special kids from my school go to the community college.

New Trier isnt a prep school.....its a public school....and its AWESOME (I used to go there, but moved out of state)

New Trier -- boo! They always clean up at Science Olympiad nat'ls :P !

I'm from pubic school in Kentucky in terrible need of renovation that for some reason has a fairly good student body; 2 years ago, one of my friends was admitted into MIT as a junior and became the only exception to our school's "don't graduate anyone early" policy. She's the only MIT admit I know of but certainly not the only appicant; we have three this year.

It looks like about 6 or 7 Kentuckians are admitted each year, so hopefully I'll be one of them, even though I don't go to a big bad private school.
