Hi all, new member!
I'm about to enter my sophomore year and I do not have the slightest clue as to what I want to major in. Right now it is basically a toss up between ME and geology. Up to this point all the classes I have taken apply to either major. I was wondering what would be the best bet for geology, between hydrogeology, geophysics, and geology. And if you do not work in the energy industry, how does the job outlook look? I have more question but cannot think of them at the moment. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

There’s quite a bit of difference between geology and geophysics and especially between ME. I assume ME = mechanical engineering.

Oh yeah I am aware of the differences in each respective field, I was just looking for some insight for job outlook and the versatility of each geology major. thanks for the reply though.

I would go for a geophysics major. I was considering getting a geophysics minor specialization to go along with my physics major but decided to get a math minor since it only requires one additional course. I’m also considering trying to get into the oil and gas industry since I’m in the Houston area.
