Geometry Honors

Will getting a 92.16 in Geometry Honors (for the first quarter) hurt my chances of an ivy league university accepting me? It will be my first B as a freshman.

Why do you want to go to an ivy league university?

I’m not sure that I want to go to one, but I was just wondering if it would lessen my chances.

No, but grades will be important. Study hard, but take time to develop your interests and have some fun in HS! Also, everyone gets caught up in “Ivy League” but there are so many amazing colleges out there. Ivy League schools are now considered “reach” or “lottery” schools for everyone, mostly because of the volume of kids that apply. So it’s great to “reach” for one or two IF you find the school has something to offer that you feel is a good fit for you, but it’s really important to explore a range of colleges that are strong matches for you and your interests when the time comes. Also, take the PSAT’s in your sophomore year, it’s good practice for the SAT’s and if you do really well on these, there is a chance to get merit money to use for college.

It’s actually an A- but no it won’t hurt your chances by much, but even people with 4.0s get rejected. I suggest you get that grade up 1 more percent if you can, that would be an A and would be a 4.0.
