Geometry over the summer; SAT

Hello,

I am currently a freshman in high school and am considering taking geometry over the summer at a local school for credit. Since I am currently taking Algebra II Honors, I plan on taking geometry over the summer, moving directly to Pre-Calc in sophomore year and AP Calculus Junior year in order to prepare myself for Advanced Topics in Physics senior year (The advanced physics class at our school is very Calculus-based)

However, in order to gain credit, our school requires students pass an additional test that some say is harder than the summer course itself. (If students do not pass, they have to take the class again the following school year). I have also heard that the PSAT, SAT, and ACT have many questions regarding geometry, so it seems necessary to fully understand geometry topics, which may be difficult in such a condensed time (6 weeks, about 6 hours per day, 150 hours total). Considering the fact that I have very little experience with geometry, does anyone have any advice regarding this decision or any additional information that may be helpful or relevant?

Thank you so much for reading, all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your school is different. Ours does geometry first, then Algebra II, although those can be taken simultaneously. Personally I am not a fan of cramming a math course into a summer, but it can be done.

Although you can take them earlier, most students take the PSAT and SAT as a junior, leaving you plenty of time to fit in geometry first. For selective colleges and STEM programs, the more competitive candidates will reach calculus (or beyond) by your senior year, and you are easily going to do that whatever you decide.

geometrys pretty easy as long as you know the basics - area formulas and stuff like that. many people at my school have taken it over the summer, and as long as you take good notes and practice you’ll be fine in regards to the sat. and if you pass the test, it’ll prove that you understand the topics anyways.
