I read that george bush went to yale... Did his parents "pay" the college for him to get in, or is he really that smart and has great GPA in high school and excellent test scores (stuff we talk on CC) to get in?

even if his parents didn't pay his way in...I'm sure that since back then the competition for college wasn't as fierce that it is now...so he probably didn't need such high scores/ec's/etc. to get in...

Probably paid his way in.

You can not use that excuse

Yale has been a top post-secondary institution for years, years far beyond the President's terms there with his "C" average.

Even today money and legacies are a big part of the admissions push because you know, duh!, everyone wants powerful friends on the highest of peaks. You can't blame them, its like highschool... You want the richest and most exclusive boyfriend that will buy you one of those neat little Gucci bags and maybe give you a 100 million dollar cut out of his business venture so you can build one of those new state-of-the-art library's with lasers from the chandelier to shoot introuders like those damn Harvardians and their big gold H's!

apparently he got 1210/1600 on the SAT. yale have his report locked away and won't say how he did when he was there.

He comes from a very established wealthy and powerful political family. You think Yale is gonna turn down alumni connections to that? Come on...

yea george h. bush went to yale, though i think he was actually really smart...

Bush (the current president) went to Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass. in the early 60's. He is said to have been an average student in that well-regarded feeder school for Yale at the time. His SAT was 1206 (taken when you still got single digits on the end), which was within Yale's usual 50% range at the time (1964) but the very low end of that 50% range. Legacy was obviously a factor coming from a wealthy, well-connected family. His GPA at Yale was 2.35. He was known for partying far more than his studying. He has said more than once in speeches given to high school students that he is proof that C students can become president.

Bush actually did better than Kerry at Yale.

lol, and him and Kerry were also in Skulls and Bones too...how eerie

Says alot about our current state of affairs.

Calm down, it was the 60's. Everyone got into Yale from Andover in those days.

Regardless of the fact that Bush went to Yale, he is incredibly ignorant. Remember when he first began campaigning? I am a stickler for English mistakes, and he really ****ed me off that year. LOL. Take a look at one of the websites that keeps a record of the many wacky things he says. Just because one goes to an ivy league school doesn't make them intelligent - maybe he killed a lot of brain cells at Yale.

There was no way that Yale was going to turn him down.

Andover was a feeder school to Yale up until recent decades and used to send the majority of their students there.

You take the fact that he went to Andover and add that to his family prestige = automatic Yale acceptance during the 60's

Omg just because someone cant speak proper english worth a dime doesnt mean they are stupid. At least Bush got into the school and even graduated, legacy or not.

lots of stupid people can graduate from college (he got Cs)... Are you implying you think george bush is smart, bright and intelligent?

No, I'm sorry. Not buying it. If English isn't your native language, that is completely different. But in Bush's case, he's just stupid. And I don't simply mean the mechanics of the language...I'm talking about the irrationality of his sayings. For example:

My most important job is to defend the homeland, to protect innocent Americans from the deaths of the killers.

Border relations between Canada and Mexico have never been better.

Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.

This notion that the United States is getting ready to attack Iran is simply ridiculous. And having said that, all options are on the table.

Now I'm laughing. :)

My favorite is "[The Constitution] is just a damn piece of paper!"

of course he graduated??? his dad would be pretty ticked if he didnt

xGods_Favoritex: Wow, I like that one. Haven't heard it before. LMAO.
