George & Island CR Passage

Let's discuss the questions...

In lines ___, what describes Aunt Miranda?
e) forceful & direct

last question in the set, what do lines __ mean (abby can't see 2 feet in front of her)
half hearted humor or self-mocking tact?

why is the use of "suspicions" in line 1 ironic?
a) suspicions usually has a negative tone

why does the author say "forever" when describing the smells & sights of the island?
overwhelmed by it/intense pleasure

anymore..?

I got Forceful and direct, Suspiicions have a negative tone, Self-Mocking tact, and Utter Bewilderment for the lines with forever in the smells and sights.

intense pleasure and utter bewilderment are so similar i think, no fair :(

why would you think she was trying to mock herself though? he said he couldn't find a "light" thing to say, and she saved him by including that tidbit of humor

by the way for light, did you put that it meant "trivial"?

sweeet i got the exact same answers as you neb145 =]

I said light = trivial. I thoguht she was mocking herself because her humor wasn't "half hearted."

Hmm. How about when he was amazed by their youngness, and that question asked to paraphrase, did you get B? "I was expecting some noticeable aging"

yeah got that

intense pleasure

intense pleasure..

=)

How about the number of people who put self mocking tact versus half hearted humor?

self-mocking tact.

hahahh that sounds so ridiculous without context.

isn't this experimental? I didn't have this passage in the 3 CR sections I had to do.

nope, cause my experimental was writing, since i had 2 full length writing.

there are 2 different test versions so...

oh there are two different test versions. lol right. my mistake!

lol no problem, i thought it was kinda strange that both are completely different though, down to the degree of difficulty..

intense pleasure

anyone got "reluctant acceptance"?

and who remember the answers to the last question? i only remenber one choice -- "confrontial"...

^ I put confrontational.

And self-mocking tact. And intense pleasure.

I was also contemplating between self-mocking tact and half hearted humour. But then I didn't think her humour was really half hearted.

And I also got intense pleasure.
