George Mason Acceptance Offer

Just an FYI for those who have also applied to GMU. My son received an acceptance email for the Class of 2017 fall entry this evening.

Congratulations! Is he planning to attend or still waiting on other offers? He got an email but nothing in snail mail yet?

I’ll pass on your thanks to him. He’s a happy boy this morning.

We’re overseas, so snail mail could be a while. We were surprised hear anything at this date as we were expecting notification at the end of the month. And yes, he’s waiting to hear from other schools, but GMU is a real possibility.

Did he apply regular or early?

He applied regular. I think it’s very odd that he was notified now. Maybe it’s because we’re overseas? I dunno.

I thought it was odd too that I got my notification this early (about 2 or 3 weeks ago). But i have been told that those who were notified early are top applicants. Congratulations!

Top applicant? LOL! Don’t know about that. He has excellent SATs (2100) , but his grades aren’t as good. He’s doing the IB at an International School and he’s found it pretty rough going.

The email mentioned that they had sent a snail mail letter awhile back, but we haven’t seen it yet. The email also had a link at Facebook for accepted members of the Class of 2017.

Yeah I don’t know about that “top applicants hearing back first” thing either. I’m a transfer with a 3.9 GPA and I still haven’t heard anything…

FYI - My son withdrew his application today (he had already been accepted), so that will make room for 1 person.

Where is that facebook link?

Abdu, the Facebook page is called Mason Admitted students - Fall 2013.

I got my acceptance letter today and I’m out of state.

We are out of state & S13 received his Saturday. Anyone know when FA packages go out?

Yeah, I was wondering when financial aid awards come out and scholarship info. Or does the scholarship award come with your acceptance letter?

I know that some merit based aid has already gone out. There are the Mason distinction scholarships, and those went out quite a while ago (but not with the acceptance letter). The University Scholars scholarship has also been awarded, and it also came separately from the acceptance letter. I’m not really sure about non-merit based aid.

I got my acceptance via regular mail last week, and I’m in state. Congratulations to all of you who got in!

Congrats, GlamourousGirl- what is your intended major?
