George Mason

How good is George Mason's economics program?

On the research level, it's incredible. Ever heard of public choice theory or the Mercatus Center? That's George Mason economics.
But I couldn't tell you about the program. I would imagine not many would be impressed by the degree. GMU is no Williams or Michigan or James Madison. Being close to DC could help with internships though.

I appreciate your response on GMU, however if you wouldn't mind could you give me your opinion on the economics program at JMU.

My inclusion of JMU was to suggest GMU wasn't even the third-best public in Virginia (behind UVA and W&M). It's not a prestigious school.

GMU is one of the most diverse universities in the country. I think their law school is like, 39th. The pull to GMU is it's close proximity to DC where there are many valuable and coveted internships. They have a good basketball team as well. If your STAT's dictate a "better" school, consider that GMU might be willing to offer you a substantial package if you are interested. I never knew that much about GMU until two of my high school friends decided to go. Both are extremely happy. It is primarily a commuter school but my friends say that this fact only makes those who live on campus a lot closer.

Best of luck!
