George Washington RD 2020

I couldn’t find a general “Applying to GW” thread, so I thought I’d make one. Congratulations to everyone who got in already. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to wait until April!

Hi there! I’m applying to GW with international affairs as my first choice major and political science as my second choice. GW is my top choice school- I wanted to apply ED, but my parents aren’t thrilled with the idea of committing to a school without having other options to compare it to. I’m so nervous for March! Congratulations to everyone who’s gotten in, and good luck to ED II/other RD applicants xx

I called the Admissions Office, they said they’re anticipating to send out decisions on Friday, December 19.

SUPER EXITED!!!

@gonewiththeair We sound like the SAME person… Same major and same dilemma for me. I’m really excited to find out whether or not I got in! I’m a Florida girl, so OOS admissions in general make me nervous. Best of luck to all!

ALSO-- @SRP036 is this for regular decision?

Is anyone not sending their scores?

@anit23 I did not, just because my GPA is a 4.7 CUM but my SAT wasn’t so great!

We have a solid date for RD? Are any of you applying to other DC schools? I’m applying to GW and Gtown

@koolkat25 did you send anything in their place like another rec or resume? i don’t want them to count it against me!!

I’m applying to GW and American. I toured Georgetown, but it wasn’t for me.
I don’t think we have a solid date for RD- just late March/early April according to the admissions website.

I was deferred from Early Decision so I will now be apart of your discussions. While I don’t have high hopes, considering that I got deferred in the first place, I’m still hoping for a miracle - haha! If any of you have questions in regards to actual application process (like what to send, when to send, etc), let me know.

@anit23 I didn’t send in my test scores since my gpa is 3.7 un and I didn’t want it to work against me! I’m so nervous though!

Applying within the next few days for Political Communications and potential double major with Religion and from northwestern Ohio. Really crossing my fingers! GW is my top school by far and the only school I’m applying to offering Poli-Comm. Would have applied ED, but I’m not in good of financial straights to take that risk. I’m applying to American as well, but I’m just not feeling it as much as with GW. Already accepted into Ohio State and Butler University.

@czhardin If GW is your top choice, apply Early Decision II. It is binding in all cases - except financially. If you cannot afford the tuition with the aid package that they give you, you can void the early decision agreement and attend a more affordable college. But if it truly is your first choice, apply Early Decision because you have a statistically better chance of getting in!

Hi everyone! I applying RD to GWU as a Communication major. I love the DC location, and I’m applying to American as well. I’m from Seattle, but I’ve applied to colleges all over the country. Unfortunately I can only attend where I receive good merit aid, so my fingers are crossed for getting a decent amount of $$ of GWU.

Hello! The thought of attending GWU as a chemistry major is exciting. Just like everyone else i wanted to apply early decision but didn’t want to be stuck. Still have to apply (I know I’m behind). I was wondering if there is a deadline for when the documents need to be sent?

Does anyone know how the acceptance rates for political science/international relations majors differ from others?

Also, does anyone know the acceptance rate for elliott?

I procrastinated on requesting an interview, and according to the GW website they are no longer taking interview requests for fall 2016 applicants :frowning: I thought because I’d checked before the January 1 deadline I’d be fine, but I guess not. Just posting this in case anyone else hasn’t schedule an interview yet- I think you can still book an interview at certain times in Charlotte, North Carolina and Geneva, Illinois on January 4, but other than that it is too late.

Original poster back to join the discussion! I’m very excited to apply GW for political science and public health. Freakout time is just truly beginning. Is anyone else applying for the honors program?

I’m apply honors last minute! Wrote one of the essays yesterday, writing the other one today.

I didn’t get an interview either-- procrastination sucks. I’m still hoping for the best with everything.
