Also I got a LL from GWU, so maybe I will get aid from there?
^^ I also got into lehigh with no merit aid and AU with just 18k, which isn’t awful but is still pretty insane. Seriously bummed I ended up on the wait list for W&L’s Johnson scholarship; it felt so close and it just slipped through my fingers.

@collegebound1516 it’s okay, I completely understand, too. I got waitlisted at AU today, and my possible financial aid is below $10K, even though I’m a low-income student. I really thought AU would be good, but now I don’t think I’ll go. Oh well, I still applied for Georgetown, UPenn, and GWU, so I’m hoping at least one of them will accept me with FA. Best of luck to you and the rest of the students! I’m sure you’ll get into a great college.
@Lana22 This question has been weighing heavily on my mind too. I got into UF (in state for me, so it’s super cheap) with local scholarships, and compared to AU and other schools I got accepted to, it’s way cheaper. Honestly, I think money talks here. All the schools you got into sound great, and you don’t want the crushing burden of student loans/debt on your shoulders for years after graduation. I’m considering staying in state to go to UF just because I don’t want my parents to spend outrageous amounts of money on my undergraduate degree.
@kaitlynjoy What is the acceptance letter if she can’t attend? To know that you’ve worked so hard, gotten accepted to a prestigious program but your application isn’t good enough for a scholarship of any amount? She’d rather not have been accepted. My D didn’t apply to AU, or any of the other schools and write all the essays just to rack up acceptance letters and not be able to attend the college…that’s a waste of time.

By the way, My D was wait listed at Wellesley but the good thing about a potential acceptance is that Wellesley covered demonstrated need based on our EFC. I do understand your considering UF. Trust me, the $100,000 scholarship from Loyola is calling…
So last year was March 27th? Does GW have a pattern of when they release decisions, like certain day of the week??
@rbandrews They usually release them on the last Friday of March. That clearly was not the case this time. So I’m not too sure. Maybe This Friday, or possibly during the week?

Hang in there but don’t use past practice to determine when they will post. My son was admitted (EDII) and it was posted on a Wednesday (around 5 PM) and not a Friday, and at least several days later than in past years. GWU had a 31% increase in Early Decision applications this year and a 29% increase in Regular Decision. When he called admissions, he had been told that the delays were due to the overwhelming increase in applications He did get an email to check the portal and his merit was also indicated at that time. Hey @radgreek , seems like we’re waiting on more than one school with each other (GU and GWU). Funny enough too, I’m also from Florida and got into UF, I’ve also been worrying about money and whether or not I’d be able to afford stuff. What other schools did you apply to? I went for GU, GWU, U of M Ann Arbor, UNC Chapel Hill and UF. Cool to see another Floridian trying to get out haha. I hope the best for you, maybe we’ll end up at the same place
@Alzamoos Hi! I applied to VT, UVA, UF, GWU, GU, GMU, American, and USNA. I got in everywhere except UVA so far, and my best two options are UF and USNA. Everything else is so mind-blowingly expensive. I really want to leave FL if I can! I’m from central FL near the east coast and Disney. Get me outta here.

do you guys think I have a good chance at this school if I have a 3.95 uw and 4.46 w gpa, a 1920 SAT, 7 AP classes, and a lot of ECs (dance, I run a fashion blog, I had an internship AND a job at the same time last sem, etc)?? I wish I was able to interview but I didn’t even know about it until it was too late

@Alzamoos Naples! I’m totally familiar with that area. My parents grew up there and we go down a lot. I’m somewhere along the lines of political science/ int’l relations/ gov’t. I applied for polisci at UF, but for American and others I got more specific into the international politics arena. Best of luck to you! We’ll know about Gtown and GWU in no time.
