Accepted to the School of Media and Public Affairs!

3.4 GPA
2230 SAT

Waitlisted at American, and denied (in-state) for University of Washington. This is a giant surprise and an unbelievable relief!

My D was accepted but it didn’t say anything about scholarships. Where did you see the scholarship amounts?

Accepted to Arts and Sciences!!! :D

congrats everyone, I got denied.

2230, 3.1 uw, 4.5 w

Aww jstersh <3. It’s okay.

NJ
ACT 32
GPA 3.7-8uw (don’t remember exactly xP)
EC’s: FBLA (vp), NHS, Math honor society, Track and Field
Essays: eh, not the greatest and pretty short. like 400 words o.o but i wrote about community service and gave a brief mention of when i visited. guess that showed i cared lol.

Congrats to all those who got in! And if you didn’t, you’ll definitely get into somewhere that you’ll be happy at in the end. :)

accepted to columbian :)

ACCEPTED. (School of Business)

I’m utterly shocked - GW was a reach for me…especially after being waitlisted to American. Who cares! Their loss.

GPA: 3.8
SAT: 1980 [CR: 660 M: 680 W: 640]
Strong ECs and Leadership, w/ semi-decent community service
Pretty decent essays - my GW essay gushed about the school itself, so maybe that helped.

Congratulations to everyone, and to all who were not offered admission, remember that it’s not the end of the world. It’s hard for even me to say this, but you should keep your head up high and remind yourself that you’ll end up going where you need to be, and you’ll be happy if you let yourself be.

35 on ACT, 4.75 GPA, valedictorian
i dont understand how i could get into unc oos, boston college, and get a full tuition scholarship at miami and not get into gw

congrats to those who got in

ACCEPTED into columbian:) with $40,000 presidential scholarship
also got into women’s leadership program in US and intl politics. i hadn’t really been been considering GW but i think this all looks pretty good i should visit.

GPA 4.2
SAT: 1960 (740 reading, 710 writing, 510 math… lol)
Essays: pretty good
EC’s: good, nothing super spectacular. lots and lots of community service and some sports, president of a human rights club, two honors societies

 • Teacher Recommendation: Didn’t see either of them
 • Counselor Rec: Didn’t see
 • Additional Rec: None

 • Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I honestly have no idea.

General Comments:
I guess I’m glad I still have a chance, but this is getting annoying. After Wash U and Middlebury, this is the third school I’ve been waitlisted at. Unless I get into Georgetown (or one of the Ivies I applied to), I’m not going to know where I’m going until May/June. :/

@emaytay, you’ve been waitlisted because you’re over qualified for them and you’re probably going to be accepted somewhere better and you’ll obviously accept their offer over GWU. So it’s no use for GWU to accept people who they know aren’t going enroll. You’ll get into one of the ivies. =)

@gtfotu Thanks! I appreciate the confidence you have in me; I wish I had a little more of it :)

emaytay, im in the same boat as you. GW was one of my safety schools and i didnt get in, but i got into boston college, a much more selective school. It doesnt make sense.

[Boston College | Best College | US News](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/boston-college-2128)

This says BC accepts ~30%. Maybe it’s a little lower than that in the last year or two. Still, that’s not “much more selective”. GW took 31% last year. Lower this year.

I think it’s time for guidance counselors to stop telling students that GW is a safety for them. Obviously, it isn’t a safety for anybody in the regular decision round.

denied…ouch…
But I got into Boston University

gpa: 94 unweighted/97 weighted
rank: top 10%
Sat’s: did not send
ACT: 29
All AP level classes except two this year
EC’s:band, marching band, set crew for the play, tutoring, national honor society, foreign language honor society, school sports for two years, tons of volunteer work(150+ hours), outside of school sports for the past 10 years, plus more that I am blanking on now

Essays- were good but not stand out

Recs: great

If I interview or sent my art portfolio it probably would have helped.
Still sucks not knowing why you were denied.

Honestly, I am quite surprised I got in. I’ll have to wait until I get an aid package, because AU and Tulane were quite generous and I have a few hang-ups about the school.
