I intend on majoring in political science and minoring in international affairs.
I am currently an IB student with a 3.2 GPA unweighted.
I have 200+ community service hours.
Clubs: Interact Club (officer), LULAC, GSA, Art Club, Debate Club, TSA, NHS and Science Club
I do Lincoln Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Informative Extemporaneous Speaking, Ready Writing, and Current Events competitively in UIL (and NFL), and have qualified regionally (my region is the most competitive in my state) in extemp. speaking, ready writing, and current events.
I got 5th place at TSA nationals for essays on technology.
My SAT score is pretty low (1810) and I currently have no ACT score.

GWU is also known for being politically active and I have volunteered for many "political" campaigns/ organizations (Obama 08, Planned Parenthood, GLAAD).

I have also interned for a software engineering company as a copywriter and code writer.
I'm a hispanic female too if that somehow helps, I am an incredibly strong writer and can back that up, and also have great letters of recommendation.

I know my chances are fairly low because of my lackluster grades but do you think I have a solid chance at acceptance if I apply early?
If you go/went to GWU, would you mind telling me what your grades like?

GWU is my first choice and AU comes a close second and I'm just worried that if I apply early to GWU and don't get in I may ruin my chances of getting into AU regular decision so I'm apprehensive and could use some external advice.

PS: Do you think that for my intended major, perhaps AU would be a better choice? I visited both schools over the summer and am ambivalent about which one I ought to go to, GWU is just my first choice since it has a better reputation, or so I've been told, and I like that it's easier to reach the metro opposed to having to use a shuttle with AU.
