Did any of you guys get your financial aid packages yet?

Haven’t received my financial aid package and I was supposed to give them my decision by this Friday. I asked for a decision extension and they are now giving me until July 1st - hopefully it will come this week, I don’t want to be behind on the housing application available on Monday!

Just checked my financial aid package on GWeb. Got the Board of Trustees scholarship, work study, and some grants totaling $38,750. The rest is 9k in loans. Doubt I’ll be able to go, since this just covers a little more than tuition :/. That and I checked the schedule of classes and all of the classes for my major(Political Science) are closed, except for 3 or 4. So yeah, it looks like I’ll be attending USC. Good luck to everyone else!

34,000 seems much better than the 7,000 offered to me.

@Trashd: the good thing about your scholarship and tuition is that they are both locked in for four years, no matter what. Even if your parents start to make $1mill/year, I’m 99% sure that the BoT scholarship is locked in!

@GuyAtCC: both are relative to what the family can afford. His family might make $30k and yours might make $300k. All relative.

I understand if you may not want to, but would those who got their packages mind sharing how close their aid came to meeting their need (according to FAFSA)?

My family income looks higher than it is because my parents had to withdraw >100k in retirement funds due to unemployment, but that isn’t taken into account. It still looks like “income” to colleges.

Still cannot create a NetID, which means I cannot apply for housing.

Hey guys, I called housing today and the guy said that most transfer students will be placed in Lafayette Hall (on the Foggy Bottom campus) this year. Does anyone know anything about the layout of this dorm? How are the rooms? Is the building pretty nice?

You can look at floor plans here [Living @ GW - The George Washington University](http://living.gwu.edu/floorplans/RoomDiagramsTest2/) Use the drop down menus to browse.

A typical configuration is two doubles sharing an adjoining bathroom.

Lafayette is a historic building, but was completely renovated 2 years ago; now a LEED certified building. Everything is new; central a/c etc.

On the corner of 21st and Eye Street, which is a decent location.

Laundry is in the basement. The kitchen might be there as well.

GuyAtCC - When did you send in your enrollment deposit? My friend who applied said it took hers five days to be processed. I’ve been waiting for ten (business days) now. When I called, they said it could take a week or two.

Thank you musicmomz!

Is there anyone who hasn’t received their financial aid package yet? I am still waiting for mine…

@GWgirl92 I haven’t received my financial aid either… I’m getting very impatient. I have to let them know if I’m attending by this Friday which doesn’t seem likely to happen. I’ve called them twice and today the lady said that I should see it online within the next two days. I would try calling the financial aid office if you haven’t already!

Just some FYIs for those of you planning on applying for housing soon:
- There is a glitch in the application for some students where it ends up asking you for which meal plan you need five times instead of allowing you to rank your building preferences. This is because they are planning on putting as many transfers as possible into Lafayette, and they aren’t giving transfers building preferences beyond that because their housing is otherwise pretty much full. When you get to this part of the application where it asks you which colonial cash plan you want, you only need to put it in once - NOT the five times it asks you to put it in.
- If you are trying to request a specific roommate, for some reason the RMS ID you will need to give your roommate (and your roommate will need to give you) can’t be found anywhere on the actual housing application (even though the website says it can - those instructions don’t work with the transfer application apparently). If you call the housing office, they can tell you your ID number.

Just thought I would let you guys know what I learned today in attempts to save you all from having to call housing three times in twenty minutes, haha.

Also, I haven’t gotten my financial aid either, but it was because they had issues locating some of my documents. If you haven’t already, I would definitely advise you give them a call and make sure everything is filed properly! The people I’ve spoken to over the past few weeks in the financial aid office have all been very nice and accomodating.

@Sarey

I submitted my declaration of intent via fax last Thursday and wire transferred my deposit on the same day. I’ve been in contact with the UGrad office of Admissions and they could not locate either of those materials. So, I resent everything yesterday at their request.

I am becoming increasingly aggravated and will be thoroughly disappointed/upset/frustrated if I am skipped over and not placed into Lafayette or a Foggy Bottom dorm.

Hopefully I can obtain my NetID tomorrow.

From the person I talked to at housing, it really seems like they’re trying to put almost everyone into Lafayette. Also, it is still fairly early in the housing process - most of those who received their decisions in the second round probably haven’t yet/just sent in their deposits because of how late the aid packages came out, meaning it would be quite feasible that most people haven’t applied for housing at all. I really wouldn’t stress too much about being placed in a bad dorm.
That’s absolutely ridiculous that they lost your information though. Glad we won’t have to deal with admissions anymore very soon.

Haven’t gotten my financial aid or my acceptance packet. Starting to get worried.

Is anyone still waiting to create a NetID/email. I find this to be absolutely ridiculous that I’ve paid my $800 deposit over two weeks ago and I still cannot create a netid. I can’t apply for housing, I cannot complete GW first class, I cannot register for CI day. I have been in contact with admissions on multiple occasions and they have yet to be helpful.

Has anyone here been experiencing the same issues as me and if so, have you been able to contact anyone who has been able to resolve this?

You’re lucky you’ve made it that far along in this whole process. I called the admissions office last Friday only to find out that they “forgot” to send me my packet…

Yeah, I never got my packet either. But considering I also never got my aid and it took them weeks to process my enrollment deposit, I decided to pick my battles.
