George Washington university vs Middlebury College

I want to become a lawyer in the future. I don’t know which college would be the best fit for me to become a lawyer. I have to decide between the George Washington University and Middlebury College. Help me

Is money a factor? Have you visited both? They’re very different schools.

GW is in an urban setting with a campus that’s completely integrated into a DC neighborhood. You won’t get that quaint New England college vibe. Middlebury is in a rural area but boasts one of the most beautiful college campuses in America and has impressive facilities. GW has 26,000 students (inc. 10K undergrads), while Midd has 2,500 students (which is on the larger side for an LAC). Only you can decide which environment best suits you. Both will provide everything you need to get into law school.

In terms of your career interests, Middlebury would be a top option:

Both are great schools, and both will be good for future lawyers, but they are so different! Pick the environment you prefer.

GW- ultra urban campus, not an open grassy quad type of school, integrated into the city. Part of D.C. Right near all the great government and history related stuff in D.C. Amazing internship opportunities during the school year.

Middlebury- Small liberal arts college with all those benefits- Small discussion based classes, intellectual atmosphere, all research opportunities go to undergrads not grad students, absolutely wonderful sense of community. Campus is rural, the antithesis of GW. GW is all about the city and less about a campus; Middlebury is a campus-based college where most of the excitement happens on campus. Internship opportunities would still exist, but be over the summer or winter study.
It takes forever to get from Middlebury to anywhere else.

Personally, I am a big believer in small liberal arts colleges. And I like the beauty of the mountains. I would pick Middlebury. But others may prefer an urban environment and a more pre-professional focus, in which case they would vastly prefer GW. What do you prefer?

And do not forget to enjoy the experience of a liberal arts education at either school. It is not all about the next stage of life and law school. You will have four years to immerse yourself in the life of the mind and enjoy being with classmates from all around the world who are as smart as you. There are no special requirements for law school. You can major in anything that interests you and go on to be a lawyer. Enjoy it!

For undergrad, Middlebury. Can look at GW for law school.
