AMerican is more Business oriented. GW more politically driven and Syracuse lots of things to do in campus but not arounf campus.

which one has the NICEST CAMPUS?

GW is not rally a campus. Several classroom buildings in a 4 block area. American is a smaler version , in a trendier area.
Syracuse is a beautiful campus, magnificent older architecture. Is up to your taste.

does anyone know if it is harder to get into the school of business or CAS at GWU or Syracuse or it does not matter and they dont take what school you are applying to into consideration (in that way) when applying?

GWU > Syracuse >>> American

could i get into Syracuse?

Canes: On the issue of campus type and appeal, I would characterize the American U. campus a little differently than tatiana. American in fact does have a distinct, intact campus as opposed to GW. It is not particularly pretty I guess, that's somewhat a matter of taste, but it does have a traditional campus feel. While tatiana describes the location as "trendy", I would call it more an extemely high-end residential area (I mean unbelievably high end), although still being in the city, the major roads around campus and Ward Circle, on which the campus is basically located, are very busy- relatively little commercial activity within walking distance of campus, but some.
Regarding your chances, your stats, especially considering your GPA, curriculum and ECs, look reasonable for these schools although you are on the low end of the populations of all three with regard to your ACT score.

Syracuse has a very nice campus but one small section of campus adjoins a neighborhood that is not so nice. Syracuse has a new building to house their business school. I would choose Syracuse over GW or American for business.

so i feel like i have decided to apply to syracuse....

i see on their supplement that you can put down first choice of school, 2nd, and 3rd...

my #1 choice is business
my #2 would be CAS

if they dont think i am qualified to business will they check me out for CAS see if i fit that or what?

thanks.

and...... would i have a better shot at gwu or syracuse?

bump 10 char?

well they're both very competitive, so itll be hard to get into both of them. Syracuse is the better school in my opinion but that's because I don't like GW's campus and stuff. It's really personal preference.

Seeing how...GW has a lower acceptance rate, I think you'd have a better shot at syracuse

so i feel like i have decided to apply to syracuse....

Yeah, I think SU will evaluate you for the other schools if you don't get into business. If you don't get into business but do get into SU you can always transfer into business after a set number of semesters in CAS providing your GPA in CAS is good enough.

Save yourself lots of money and leave your tundra parka at home, go to the University of Maryland, excellent business college, ACC sports, short subway ride to DC.

i agree with exploringoptions! are you aware how cold and snowy Syracuse will be? i guess it depends on what you want in terms of location, as Syracuse vs. AU and GW are very different. if you want city and readily available internships, DC is the place. UMD is a rather long metro ride, but the best business school of these we're discussing. GW and AU are almost identical schools, with identical admission stats, tho locations are different. GW has one that is one- with- the- city(no real campus). AU as has been said, is on "Embassy Row", very wealthy and near the Georgetown area(shopping, restaurants, etc.) i guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as AU is a national arboretum, so beautiful as gardens go. UMDCP is huge with an equally huge applicant pool, and lovely campus. its overall academics are moderate, tho known for business. despite the academics, it's hard to get in as the pool is huge. i think Syracuse will be the least difficult to get into. hope this helps.

Don't be afraid of a little snow!
2 of my 3 went to school in upstate NY and as we told them - its no big deal. You don't have to shovel it or drive in it - and those are the worst part of winter weather. If you like everything else aboout the school - go for it! Syracuse has a nice campus, great spirit and some exceptional programs (Newhouse for communicatins, Maxwell for political science, etc.) They also have an incredible alumni network .

To answer your other concern, you can indicate on the supplement if you want to be consider for your 2nd and 3rd choice schools.

BTW, Child #3 is now in the application process - and all her schools are in the upstate NY/ New England area! Let it Snow...

syracuse has an excellent marching band if you care about that stuff lol... they're pretty good at sports too
