***GEORGETOWN 2021 WAITLIST THREAD***

anyone else international has not received anything?? i received an email in March on the same day Americans received their decision through mail… and the time in which I received the email is past which is really weird

International here…haven’t gotten anything either

My son got EWL too - letter says the same thing as the one already quoted here. Another 6 weeks is a long time. We will move on emotionally and know it is a slim chance of coming off the EWL but keep his name on it in case a miracle happens.

The waitlist letter came with past years’ trends in acceptance rates. Is there something similar for the EWL? I see that it is usually 100-150 getting the EWL and about half accepting their spot. How many actually get off though? The past few years threads show some acceptances around June 4th and then not much after that.

@anyone23 Hey, I was wondering if you already rejected the offer or you are just thinking you are going to?

So based on last years stats, we can hope for early June to know how we stand on the EWL? Thanks so much.

nobody got acceptances through mail?

Got rejected through the mail from SFS haha. Same stuff about “an exceptionally large number of students who accepted our offer of admission the year” and “the Committee was exceedingly limited in its ability to consider candidates from the Waiting list” another poster mentioned before. Oh well- Columbia 2021 (accepted RD for political science)… here I come! Columbia and Georgetown were very close as my top 2 anyways… Georgetown just got the slight edge because DC is political internships/jobs powerhouse, though NYC is no slouch itself

Hey guys! Just heard back and got on the extended waitlist for SFS.

Does anyone know the extended wait list offer acceptance rates?

@cjchasinglife I think it’s like ~50%

didn’t get any mail today…did anyone in the west coast get anything today? If you guys got the EWL letter today what region are you guys in

@cjchasinglife I think it’s lower than 50%, because in the letter it says most candidates did no have a chance to consider their applications further

did anyone international get accepted? If so, did you get a call?

Rejected. Got an email dated May 16 just now. Exact same wording: excpetionally large number, exceedingly limited…Set to go to WashU in the fall.

Another international student who also got rejected from SFS just now.

Accepted to schools like Rice, UC Berkeley, USC, Boston College, and Wesleyan University.
Set to go to Wesleyan University in CT

@brown2021wait hey! I’m also a brown ed defer applicant …

@crowningflowers We’re in New England and did not receive a letter today … I can’t determine if any students got off the waitlist last year without a call / email first, so seems we just have to wait a little longer …

I just found this thread yesterday and have been reading the posts only since then. I think being waitlisted and then possibly on an extended waitlist in May is an extraordinary situation, and I have never seen anything like this on CC. Perhaps it exists or is common, but I just have never seen it. I want to tell you all how amazing and emotionally strong you all are to be able to be objective, yet hopeful. Full of reason and logic. I wish you all the best wherever you attend. I actually chuckle when some of you announce where you will go instead of Georgetown – Columbia, Wash U, etc. Such fabulous and fantastic schools, so no on has lost anything!! It’s all gain! Best wishes.

I recieved a call last thursday asking if I was wanting to remain on the waitlist, and that I should make sure my financial aid package was complete. I had to call back Friday to give my final answer of wanting to stay on the waitlist. I told them I would definitely enroll if admitted. Yesterday I recieved an email from another admissions counselor meant to arrange a time to talk on the phone today. So I will call today and hopefully I recieve a notification of some sort. I haven’t gotten a letter or anything. All in all, I guess things are working a bit different for some people with regards to waitlist notifications.

good luck @Hoseokgun !
