@maddyduv I would agree with the previous poster. Georgetown’s entire application is geared towards people who have shown interest and would actually attend if accepted, so showing your passion for Georgetown can help quite a bit. If you’ve visited campus, talk about what you liked. Do some research and find classes or clubs that would interest you. It can also help to keep in mind Georgetown’s Jesuit values of Women and Men For Others, and their dedications towards service.
Is it bad I still haven’t gotten my interview date? I’m applying Regular decision but I submitted the first part of the application back in September.
@TS9034 Everyone is required to have an interview, so you’ll get one eventually. Occasionally check your spam folder or trash to see if your email might have deleted it, but it’s still very early in the year for an interview, especially for RD.
My school made a mistake with one of my marks, but my guidance counsellors will be sending the transcript with my updated marks. Do I send them to the Undergraduate Admissions Office’s email or are there specific people to contact regarding this?
Anyone know when decisions are supposed to be released?
^ I would expect that they get mailed on the 14th or 15th, so you will get them early the next week. Good luck!
Do they announce decisions online at all or just mail?
@lindsgal Just through mail. I think only international students can get their decisions online.
^ Correct, but international kids get an email, not an online portal to check.

In other threads, I read that accepted students get a phone call. Is that true?
@apdns19 Georgetown’s student-run admissions ambassador program (GAAP) gives you a call to congratulate you and ask if you have any questions about Georgetown. This’ll happen after you get your letter though.
Welcome!
The Georgetown University application for the Class of 2022 (HS Class of 2018) has opened! Both EA/RD applicants are encouraged to discuss the application and Georgetown!

lol Georgetown is notorious for accepting a hefty amount of students from NJ. I’m not exactly sure what the stats are but it’s a pretty big in going joke here haha
Hello! I was just wondering what day you found out about your decision because for EA it says that we find out December 15th but I have heard rumors that last year the applicants found out on the 13th. Do you remember and also is it only by mail or do you get an email as well? Or is it by the application page that applicants have to make when applying?
@student091300 Hiii I also applied to EA and although decisions are supposed to come out on the 15th, decisions were mailed last year on the 13th and this is usually followed up by a notification on Georgetown’s social media (Facebook, Twitter). To answer your question, all decisions are mailed, and unless you are an international applicant you will not receive an email on your admission decision. If you still have not received your decision by the 15th, you can always call the admissions office the following monday (18th) and ask. I found all of this out from the lovely people over at the Georgetown University Class of 2022 EA Applicants Thread, you can find a lot of fellow EA applicants and undergrad students over there!
hey everyone question:
how are the decisions being released?
I thought it was by mail but since it’s saying that applicants will be notified by Dec 15 it makes it seems like it would be online. Like there isn’t a way for the school to make sure that the mail gets to each person’s house by Dec 15.
Hey guys… I didn’t submit this before, but if someone could chance me that’d be awesome! I’m so nervous over this decision; Georgetown is like home to me already. So, here are my stats, and good luck to everyone applying!!!
School: SFS, Major in International Politics w/ Minor in Latin American Studies
GPA: 3.77 UW (I suck at math but have straight As in humanities lol), 4.48 W.
By the time next semester reports are submitted I will have a 3.8 UW and 4.52 W b/c of our grading system, since I got straight As last quarter.
ACT: 34 C (36 E, 30 M, 36 R, 35 S), 35 superscore
SAT IIs: 790 Spanish, 790 World, 630 US History (but I got a 5 on the AP exam, and took this my freshman year).
APs: 6 taken, 4 to go APUSH (5), US Gov (4), Art History (4), World (5), English Lang (5), Spanish Lang (5)
Class Rank: Around Top 25 but we don’t rank. My school is freakishly competitive.
Senior Year Classes: APES, AP Comp Gov, AP Spanish Lit, AP English Lit, Honors Calc, 4th year journalism, tech required class.
ECs: Honestly I think this is the strongest part of my app besides my scores.
-Co-founded Slam Poetry Team
2nd in region, competed at Kennedy Center and individually at National Portrait Gallery, National Book Festival, etc. I wrote my essay about how poetry and spoken word changed my life
- Online EIC on School Newspaper
40 staff, wins national awards. I redesigned the whole website and have 1 of 3 main leadership positions.
-County SGA Community Relations Director
Apptd. this position of tons of applicants, we work to connect county SGA to schools, do school visits, promos for assemblies, etc. We also testify on county + state legislation.
-Latino Student Fund Tutor
Tutor for hispanic students in DC, I hopefully want to work to administrate it in my later years of college if I’m given the chance to stay in DC.
-4-Year Internship with DC Political Analyst (and Georgetown Law alumna), co-published articles. Amazing supplemental rec letter and she’s still very active in the GU community.
-National Honors Society… only like 5% of my whole grade is in it, like 30/500 of us based on GPA, leadership, and service.
-Volunteering Abroad, family’s home country… taught English to low-income + disabled children in a poor part of Spain after the economic collapse and natural disasters, distributed food to primarily Muslim single mothers who immigrated to Spain from N. Africa.
-Other miscellaneous things… Model UN two years (schedule conflict in years before, only one conference per year so not as competitive as other schools but still hard to get into), County Hispanic Caucus (letter of congrats from Senator), etc.
Hooks: First generation on mom’s side… will be first to ever get a college degree, also first generation American on her side. Dad’s… not so much, but he dropped out of high school and got a degree later on.
I’m also Hispanic, Spanish is my first language (learned along w/ English, at same time).
@kpal810 It’s anytime from today, the 13th, to Friday, the 15th, depending on how close you are to DC
When your counselor completes the secondary school report do they also upload a transcript in order to fully “complete” the form? I’m panicking thinking that Georgetown never got my transcript. I don’t know if I was supposed to mail it or not.
