Georgetown 2023 Applicants Discussion

Did anyone get a Deferral with a 68 cents letter? Help! Goin’ nuts

accepted to sfs!!!

For deferred folks-- do consider sending additional data to GU (awards, Cum Laude…) to bolster your application. My D sent in material in January after her deferral. She’s now a Hoya freshman.

CONGRATULATIONS ???

Was your envelope 47 or 68 cents? Thanks

My acceptance was 68 cents

Deferred

2 - SFS: sweatshop labor crisis, proposed UN legislation backed by Universal Declaration of Human Rights (AP Seminar performance task 1 was in sweatshops so I thought it was really good because I knew a lot)

recs: waived access
Spanish teacher - pretty good, I think it might’ve been too basic but I don’t know. She knows I love Spanish
APUSH & sociology teacher - he said it was the best he has ever written, he loved me and I did very well in his classes
Counselor: think it was probably good, we have a strong relationship

Interview: thought it went really well, told her my passions and how Georgetown would help in accomplishing goals and such (talked about starting MFOL at my school, being a poll worker, Girls State (showed her my bill on Saving Indiana’s Inner City Schools), and also mentioned that I’m really interested in some of Georgetown’s clubs that focus on working with DC’s inner city youth))

Reflection:
I think my app was strong but had low test scores and no service.

Strengths: essays
Weakness: test scores, no service, little leadership

Why I think I was deferred:
I don’t think I stand out I guess. It’s just so hard attending a rural school because there’s not much students can do about it:(

Where else have I been accepted/deferred:
Accepted: butler, valpo, UIndy, Spring Hill, Adelphi
Deferred: UChicago

if I didn’t submit my SAT 2s because I wasn’t happy with my scores and get deferred, should I retake and submit?

@gatoradeb0ttl3 I am pretty sure Georgetown does not allow score choice, so you’d have to submit all the exams you’ve taken. But yes, if you are not happy, I would suggest retaking them.

I haven’t gotten my letter yet but I had strong other test scores, gpa, letters, and essay. If I didn’t submit my scores do you think it’s highly likely I didn’t get in?

I got accepted!!

Anyone from utah received their letter??

Does anyone know when Georgetown informs you about financial aid?

I got accepted! Lmk if you guys want stats

@Ropausabs May I know what info your daughter send in to get accepted?

Can anyone help? I don’t know what to do! I’m an international student (from Brazil) and from what I’ve read here, internationals got their emails on the 14th. I still haven’t gotten mine. Checked all the folders (including spam) and there’s nothing there. Someone posted here that the admissions office is not letting people know over the phone anymore if they got accepted or deferred and Brazil’s mail is so slow I probably won’t get my letter until mid-January… I have the email of one admissions officer but I don’t know if I should contact her asking what happened? But I really want to know the decision, specially because the Regular Decision deadlines for all other schools are coming up and I won’t apply to as many schools if I get into Georgetown. I also can’t think of a reason why they wouldn’t send my email yet… but I don’t know if I should bother them asking about my email.

If you still don’t know about acceptance you can call admissions and they’ll add you to a mailing list and tell you by mail by tonight their decision. They won’t tell you on the phone if you got accepted or deferred.

My daughter did not get accepted in Georgetown’s EA pool. (Deferred)
