Does anyone know if Georgetown is using a portal this year?
@bluesmile426 I’m fairly sure they’re just mailing the decision
If decisions are mailed Wednesday could they get to NY for Thursday? Or should I be expecting Friday?
Do people really get off WL?
According to the common data set…during the 2017-2018 Georgetown admissions year, 2,473 applicants were offered spots on the waiting list and 1,571 of those students agreed to accept a spot on the wait list. 50 students ultimately were admitted off of that waitlist. So, yes, people do come off of the waitlist, but not very many.
@sojourn3 Yes, people do get in off the waitlist. In 2017 my son was waitlisted. He then was not taken in first wave of waitlist, but was asked if he wanted to remain on “extended waitlist”. Then around June 7th he received word that he could be admitted from waitlist if he told them he would definitely say yes. By that time though he had already committed to GW and had roommate and was happy to be heading there with a large merit scholarship. Georgetown gives no merit money, so he ultimately decided to go to GW and he is extremely happy there.
Dang…I live in Maine hopefully I get the decision before April 1st when some of my scholarships are due and they need to see the college I am going to. What do you guys think? Will I get it in time?
@schabii I think you should call admissions once we are sure they mailed out decisions. Tell them you have a 4/1 deadline for scholarships and you need to have all your school options known and ask them what your decision is so you can also consider Georgetown if you are admitted. I would be worried that you won’t get your paper decision by 4/1, and IMOP you should have a few days to make this big decision. They must be the very last school to get their decisions out since they mail them…
@sail23 https://www.usps.com/priority-mail/map/ use this map, type in 20057! If your area is 2 day you should expect it Friday, 1 day is Thursday. Don’t know when informed delivery typically shows up. I think it’s the day that it will be delivered.
Are acceptances, rejections, and waitlists all sent with priority mail? Or just acceptances?
@FrenchHorn240 is correct - those of us who are alumni interviewers were told by the Admissions Office that decision letters will go out on the 27th and students will be able to view their admissions decisions in their online portals on Saturday, March 30th.
Hi guys, does anyone have any clearer idea what day Georgetown will release Regular Decision Notification? The anxiety and restlessness is really getting hard to handle…
How abt International Students? Do we know if they are postal letters or online results? Thanks!!
Are alumni interviewers aware of decisions?
Alumni interviewers hear when students do. The mail date will be 3/27. By 3/30 decisions will be visible on portal.
Am I at a disadvantage if I never got an interview? I’m from Canada btw, and started my application a bit late (like in January). My friend who goes to the same school got an interview but she submitted her application much earlier.
I thought interviews were compulsory for Georgetown?
@rshrawg Maybe not for internationals?
My son also never had an interview, even though he received an invitation from a local alumni interviewer. Because of that, along with the fact that he only recently submitted part two of the application, we aren’t expecting an acceptance for admission.
@NMParent000079 I see. Was your son not able to have the interview? I never even got an invitation for one. It says on Georgetown’s website that if interviewers in an area are not available, interviews will be waived. Perhaps none were available in my region and so my interview was waived?
