Posting this here because it seems appropriate.
Hi guys, I never thought I’d be posting a “chance me” thread… but here I am.
I applied to MSB, c/o of 2023.

-Essays:
Activity: well written, clear, and concise. I wouldn’t consider it AMAZING though. I talked about how I changed my students’ lack of cultural pride/dispositions as a Korean teacher (7/10)
Personal Statement: talked about how I grew up poor and how I met someone who changed my life, and used this experience to heal my community (7.5/10)
Why McDonough?: I think this one was my best one. I talked about the business I started and how I found out that the Chinese manufacturers i worked with were beating/sexually abusing children, so I cut my business ties with them, and I took on the role of being an entrepreneur that took on global social justice issues. I tied that in with my Christian values closely relating to GT’s Jesuit values and my experience touring Georgetown/what I could contribute to McDonough. I was specific with particular programs, clubs I was interested in (8.5/10).
-LORs:
Counselor: she likes me, and she was impressed with my motives for business. I don’t think anything too spectacular though (7/10).
APUSH teacher: she liked me and I was a good student. (7/10)
Marketing Teacher: I met her this year, so when she showed me my rec, she talked a lot about what was on my resume. However, she did talk about my dedication as a student and entrepreneur. (7.5/10)
FBLA/Business Teacher- she loved me!! We were very close and she even gave me rides home/took me out for dinner. I’ve known her for 3 years. (8.5-9/10).
-Other info:
I’m Asian, Female.
I am First Generation.
Super low income.
Interview - Decent. I was very nervous and my interviewer was shy. We talked about my business and I asked her questions about her GT experience.
Sorry for this being SUPER long. Georgetown is my absolute dream school and I can’t imagine myself anywhere but there. I really appreciate anyone’s input. I would just like an idea as to how I stand as an applicant. Thank you so much!!
