I'm currently application process for Georgetown and I have my Alumni Interview tomorrow. While I'm not to concerned about the interview, I have misgivings about the rest of my application. My concern encompasses my acedemic history. I'll explain: I'm 30 now, so I've been out of school for over ten years. Unfortunately, I didn't do so well in high school. Not because I wasn't smart enough, more so because I was bored and at the time I didn't understand the importance and significance of my academic standing. Furthermore, I was expelled during my senior year and ended up getting my GED so I could join the Army. I was in the Army ten years and left with an Honorable Discharge. I am now a Helicopter Mechanic with a FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate, and while I love all things aviation, this is not where I want to be. I feel like I have a few things going for me, but I'd like some advice or tips on how to strengthen my application as I know that Georgetown is where I'm supposed to be.

Here is what I've got going for me:

I was raised internationally; my father was a defense attache and was stationed in US embassies across the world. I grew up in Nigeria, Cameroon, Tokyo, and Finland.

I have considerable work experience and a strong work ethic.

I am tenacious and extremely driven to achieve my goals.

My goals are clear, concise, and present a challenge that is both lofty and realistic.

I have no need to party or go out or otherwise 'slack of'. I'm here because I want the tools and knowledge that Georgetown has to offer, therefore, there will be no distractions to my studies.

I'm self sufficient and have no need nor desire to live on campus.

Can anyone give me some tips and advice on what I can do? I was told by an old family friend that if I could meet with a senior admissions representative and tell my 'story' I'd have a pretty good chance. I obviously cannot rely on my grades, and that is my primary concern.

I appreciate any insights and I'm sorry for the lengthy post here. Thanks!
