Georgetown Admissions

My class of 2013 kid's scores are as follows:
• SAT II (Chemistry): 690, (Literature): 700, (Physics): 720
• ACT: Composite 33 / E 34/ M 31 / R 35 / S 30 / Writing 10
Academic GPA: 4.0 Non-Weighted / 4.67 Weighted

Are these good enough to get into Georgetown? Wondering if retaking is necessary.

Anybody out there get accepted with similar scores?

With scores that good I hate to suggest re-take, but (s)he might want to consider the Chemistry test again. Generally speaking, SAT Subject tests are >700. A student only takes them if she can master the topic. So 690 is not really mastery.

Meatheadmom - Our son was admitted a year ago (class of 15 in the College). His stats were 2160 and 33 with 700+ SAT II’s, excellent recs, essays and EC’s including leadership roles and a highly ranked summer science research internship. He was a co-valedictorian (4.5+ GPA) which is something Georgetown really likes. At his class convocation last year they announced that 791 of the 1,624 matriculating students were 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their HS classes. That’s nearly 50% of the entering class. Did your son take the SAT I?

On surface, his scores are in the range but there are so many factors involved its almost like trying to win the lottery. Good luck to him next year.

Meatheadmom, i got into georgetown with these scores:

-bio 750
-english lit 690
-math ii 640

i’m asian and thus not counted as part of the “underrepresented minority” group…so affirmative action likely did not apply for me.

my gpa at the time i sent my app was 4.28…after the midyear report it was 4.4.

i do suggest that your kid retake the exams and try to get a 750 + on them but my stats do show you that not all hope is lost if you don’t get perfect scores!
