Calling all advice givers...

I was accepted EA at Notre Dame and Georgetown; accepted at Marquette; waitlisted at Cornell; rejected at Yale; waiting on Stanford. I will probably end up at GU, so I was wondering if there are any Hoyas out there. Please take a moment to sell your school a little to me, since I'm swimming in seas of uncertainty. If you are a GU Ambassador, or know the address of one, PLEASE tell me. I tried to email one of you and got the Exec lady and she was ed at me cause I asked if GU gave away ipods.**

How did you decide to go to Georgetown? What makes it worthwhile/different/right for you? Honestly, what is the worst thing about GU- would you change about it?

I'm from small-town Missouri, so the "big city" would be a big change. What is DC weather like? Crime? Mass-transit? Social scene? General atmosphere?

What are you majoring in and how is it working out for you? I'm thinking of majoring in political science, but am also interested in sociology, psychology, international affairs/relations, pre-law (later going into international law), and linguistics. Should I have applied to the Walsh School of Foreign Service?
Does the School work closely with the College or is it very separate and exclusive?

How are meal plans? Intramural sports? Dorms? Are freshman dorms the old 2 to a room or are there newfangled suites?

Is it really religious? I'm Catholic so this is not a problem, but it's not really a necessity either.

Is the system really complicated? Am I going to get crap classes and a work study job cleaning bathrooms? What do you think of your professors?

What is the DC cost of living like? I don't think I'll get much financial aid, though I need it (late forms). How is the work study program? (keep in mind my rather extreme ignorance about these things) What is The Corp exactly? How does it compare to work-study, e.g., can I get a job easily? Will it pay well? Can I get two jobs?

Thanks...and thanks again.
